Job Description and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY Purpose To deliver safe, fit for purpose mechanical designs to an agreed schedule to meet a pre agreed budget. Nature and Scope The job holder is one of the key members of the design team having responsibility for the mechanical design. The job holder is responsible for design and specifying mechanical equipment. In addition, the job holder shall support the inspections and quality control during the manufacturing of the equipment. DIMENSIONS

  • Responsible for Thermal design, Mechanical Design of Heat Exchangers, Pressure vessels, Cryogenic Storage Tanks.
  • Responsible for creating Requisition and Purchase specifications, Review bids.
  • Responsible for review of corresponding supplier documents.
  • A Mechanical Engineer acts as the technical interface between AP project execution teams. The primary purpose is the delivery of a safe, fit for purpose design to an agreed schedule and budget.
  • Providing support to other AP engineering centers as workload requires.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Safety and rigorous adherence to relevant specifications and standards for all designs produced and equipment specified by AP and / or AP s Engineering Partners.
  • Accountable for the engineering scope adherence in accordance with project specifications & standards.
  • Mechanical scope definition, estimation & forecasting, planning, design, review / check / approval, document control and review, scope control and other activities necessary for project execution.
  • Design and specifications of mechanical equipment like pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, regeneration heaters.
  • Review of vendor offers, technical bid tabulations, vendor drawing reviews
  • Effectively communicate by email, ppt or face to face AP s execution strategies, schedule issues and project requirements.
  • Support and contribute to AP s low cost sourcing activities.
  • Implementation of quality procedures and contribute to continuous implementation of improvement activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Mechanical Engineering Degree (or equivalent) and relevant work experience of around 5 - 8 years.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and strong communication skills.
  • Thermal Design and rating of Heat Exchangers.
  • Must be familiar with an engineering organization, the function of each discipline and how they interact and the function of the various support groups globally.
  • Experience with global codes to include API, ASME, TEMA, & PED requirements.
  • Experience of preparing specification and requisitions for Pressure Vessels, Cryogenic Storage Tanks, Vaporizers, and Heat Exchangers.
  • Experience of vendor offer reviews and vendor documents approvals.
  • Experience of working with manufacturers of fabricated equipment and quality control / inspection experience will be of advantage.
  • Conversant with Softwares like HTRI, PV Elite, Compress, Autopipe Vessels, Nozzle Pro etc.
