Job Description

    Job descriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesSummary of Responsibilities:The Tax Senior reports to the industry or office Principal in Charge to general employment matters pertaining to specific engagements. The Tax Senior must exhibit high standards of professional and social ethics and must accept full responsibility as a Strategic Work Unit (SWU) Head for engagements of varying size and complexity to include, planning and coordinating the various phases of the field work, directing and reviewing the work of a number of assistants, and making decisions on all but the most unusual auditing matters. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Perform and supervise the broadest range of GST issues from start to finish, oversee larger and more complex engagements, potentially one or more assignments simultaneously.
    • Plan and coordinate the various phases of the fieldwork such as staff requirements, logistics, audit programs, and time budgets.
    • Schedule, delegate, and review the work of staff members, support on-the-job training, and evaluate their performance.
    • Guide the decision making process on all but the most unusual taxation matters.
    • Ensure complete and timely engagement wrap-up to include preparation and/or review of financial statements and tax returns, schedule Principal and central reviews, may coordinate closing meetings with clients.
    Responsibilities:
    • Adhering to clients GST compliance timelines as per statute (assessments, filing of returns, etc.)
    • Provide GST services to a range of clients working closely with multidisciplinary tax teams.
    • Carrying out comprehensive GST incidence reviews for the clients.
    • Perform GST reviews as part of Internal Audit engagements
    • Assist internal and external contacts on GST related queries.
    • Coordination with the department for obtaining approvals, registrations, etc.
    • Helping with audits or investigation by the tax authorities
    • Complete identified number of GST returns on a timely basis.
    • Preparation, filing and processing of refunds
    • Address all queries raised in respect of GST returns submitted and liaise with line Managers accordingly.
    • Assisting in the implementation of recommendations.
    • Perform GST audits
    B] Research
    • Extensive research on various critical aspects of GST Laws.
    • Benchmarking against industry preferred practice to identify new ways of helping to reduce GST incidence and capturing permanent cash flow benefits
    • Research technical issues
    C] Advisory
    • Rendering business advisory services to clients under GST Laws
    • Participate in planning, developing and implementing GST strategies to optimize tax incidence
    • Dealing with technical enquiries relating to GST
    D] CRM and Relationships Development
    • Ensuring clients are provided with up to date information on indirect tax developments.
    • Business development initiatives, contributing to winning new work
    • Participate in identifying new market opportunities
    • Establishing and maintaining good relationships with clients and colleagues
    • Document case studies and develop business development collaterals
    • Participation in client acquisition related activities including drafting proposals / responding to RFPs & presentations to clients
    E] Others
    • Assisting with the developing lesser experienced staff with hands on advice and support
    • Steer projects including quality reviews of deliverables, client interfacing and presenting findings to management and at ACMs / BOD meeting
    Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Promote and uphold the firms policies and procedures, and become knowledgeable in the firms services.
    • Complete appropriate billing forms as a follow-up to the budgeting process.
    • Prepare regular and timely staff evaluations.
    Interpersonal Contacts:
    • Communicate engagement problems, findings, and status to Principals.
    • Coordinate and delegate the work of staff and interns.
    • Interface with client personnel to review audit findings, clarify results and encourage revised practices.
    • Contact agencies and organizations by phone or letter to gather ancillary client information.
    Technical
    • Indepth knowledge of Service Tax, Excise, Customs, Foreign Trade Policy regulations, SEZ regulations, STPI regulations.
    • Knowledge of IT & FEMA
    • Knowledge of MS office (Excel & Word)
    • Ability to use internet for research
    • Multiple Industry Knowledge with specialisation in few
    • Understanding of all commercial laws
    • Knowledge of Income Tax Act
    Desired Candidate Profile
    • CA with 10-15 years of post qualification experience in Indirect Taxation (GST)
    • Should have work experience with reputed professional firm specialized in Indirect Tax (GST)
    • Self motivated, innovative, capable of handling stress, willingness to travel and meet the deadlines.
