Job Description and Qualifications

  1. JOB PURPOSE:
A Commissioning / Start up Engineer is responsible for supporting Lead / Principal Engineer for the commissioning of Air Product s cryogenic plants mainly within India, Europe, the Middle East and Africa but with some potential for involvement further afield as part of the Global Organisation. This means supporting sale of gas plants and sale of equipment or CPS contracts when required.
  1. DIMENSIONS :
The plants will range between small mid - size and large, cryogenic air separation. These plants may be owned by Air Products as part of their Global Operating Group or may be turnkey sales to third party customers.
  1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
To support the lead the commissioning of Air Products Air Separation EMEA - I wide, mostly for third party customers and support the lead for the day to day responsibility for pre - commissioning, commissioning and plant start - up through to performance test and local operator training 80% of the time. To work within Air Products Engineering offices (Pune) during periods of low, on - site commissioning commitments. Activities during this period may include Flow sheet development Manual and procedure preparation Assistance to Indian / European Operations on ongoing Productivity Projects 20%.
  1. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Minimum 12 - 15 years site experience working in chemical, petrochemical or related process industries. Experience in Start - up and commissioning of ASUs especially Large ASUs / HyCO is added advantage. Start - up, commissioning or plant operating experience is of advantage. Self - sufficient technical experience of cryogenic air separation / vacuum or pressure swing absorption experience. Further process / electrical / or instrumentation skills are preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead and influence team members in various cultural areas. Passport, internationally mobile. Flexible attitude to travel, sometimes at short notice and be prepared for extended periods away from home. Good command of the English language. Written and spoken Graduate from reputed universities in Chemical / Mechanical engineering is preferred.
  1. MOST CHALLENGING PART OF JOB :
Plant commissioning can be challenging as schedules are often tight. There can be a lot of pressure on the commissioning team lead to get the plant on - stream and supply of gas and liquid products established to the customer.

    • Maintain a delay and inefficiency log for all projects
