Job Description

JOB TITLE: Senior Executive - Dairy ExtensionREPORTS TO: Abbott Technical OperationsCOUNTRY: IndiaSITE: Prabhat Srirampur Distt. Ahmednagar / BaramatiDEPARTMENT: ANSCJob Purpose:

  • To work closely with the dairy suppliers at the field grass root level with a high-level focus on education & improvement in current ongoing field practices.
  • To drive & execute dairy development/extension activities in the milk shed area ensuring capability development for farmer base in terms of Clean Milk production, Milk Quality & Quantity enhancement.
  • Create & sustain momentum amongst dairy suppliers of good animal husbandry practices.
  • Assurance of quality milk supplies at the Bulk milk coolers installed in the milk shed area.
  • To ensure smooth operations at Bulk Milk Coolers by having a sound liaison with Farmer, facilitator & Prabhat.
Dimensions of the Role: Job Holder is accountable and responsible for overall Coordination & execution of dairy extension activities in the Milkshed area. The area of focus includes:- Manage Farmer relationship /Technical development, Assurance of quality milk supplies, Capability Building for the dairy farmers, Training & Creating awareness on Good Animal Husbandry Practices (Feeding, Breeding, Housing, etc.), Backward Integration, Sorting out dairy farmers issues & ensuring that the suppliers are able to meet milk quality on a sustainable basis.Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for dairy extension support to farmers at the Grass route level to ensure the uninterrupted source of milk supply.
  • Responsible for improving the knowledge & technical know-how of farmers on dairy feed, herd management, Animal Housing system other good animal husbandry practices.
  • Responsible for organizing animal awareness camps & carrying out dairy extension training programs in the field.
  • Responsible for conducting training for farmers on Feed /Fodder & Breed improvements.
  • Responsible for smooth operations of Bulk milk coolers along with the assurance of quality milk supply.
  • Responsible for sorting out day-to-day issues of farmers & facilitator pertaining to their animals, payments & other issues that may arise from time to time.
  • Responsible for implementing the Corrective actions at the field level suggested by QA from time to time.
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for gathering information in the field on the competitor activities, milk prices offered, milk procured from the milk shed area & creating generating a fortnightly/ Monthly MIS report.
  • Responsible for supporting the current ongoing dairy development activities run by Prabhat.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Experience/Knowledge/Technical Skills Required:
  • BVSc & AH / Extension/ Dairy Tech. Graduate with 3-5 years of experience in dairy extension in Food Processing / Nutrition manufacturing industry
  • Must pocess knowledge on subject milk as commodity.
  • Knowledge on milk contaminants and Aflatoxins testing will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Marathi language.
