Design next generation radios. Allocate signal processing functions to antennas, RF electronics, FPGAs, and DSPsoftware to implement frequency locked loops, delay locked loops, automatic gain control, automatic transmit powercontrol, pre-distortion, beamforming, channel estimation, equalization, automatic coding & modulation, and forward error correction.Skills:Design, evaluate, simulate, and test complex digital signal processing functions using Matlab. Simulate fixed word width signal processing within FPGAs.Invent advanced beamforming algorithms to mitigate interference, increase SNR, and equalize the frequency response due to multipath propagation.Perform system level modeling including multiple cells, sectors per cell, and CPEs per sector.Simulate RF signal processing blocks in terms of gain, noise figure, IP2, IP3, and frequency response.Invent PHY layer protocols and signaling for link establishment and maintenance. Design feedback channels that support automatic transmit power control, automatic coding & modulation, automatic repeat request, and time synchronization.Conduct system tests to verify system performance. Analyze test data. Solve technical problems associated with wireless communication. Write reports to summarize findings. Conduct trade studies to select system designs that minimize schedule, technical, and development risk while still meeting performance requirements.Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Write clear algorithm descriptions, technical specifications, and comprehensive reports, and detailed test plans.Experience:System design and test of radar warning receivers.Co-channel interference detection and mitigation using smart antenna signal processing.Allocating and then verifying RF link budgets. Signal propagation, multipath fading, channel modeling, and non-line of sight communication.8 years of experience in digital wireless communication. Previous application of digital communication and signal processing theory in simulating, designing, and testing the PHY layer of wireless communication links.Education:MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in digital wireless communication or digital signal processing.,
