Job Description

  • Work on features which will deliver state of the art messaging experience to billions of users.
  • Identify key areas of debt in the code to improve code maintainability, architecture and establish industry standard design patterns.
  • Understand, measure, evaluate and improve the SDK performance taking into account API, OS, Network and synchronisation requirements of our ProductRead about a very interesting 3rd party library and sigh longingly to use it ! And then go implement the most critical parts of it yourself.
  • Work with key stakeholders from Product and Design teams to execute POCs for new product improvementsCollaborate with other like minded android engineers to constantly keep learning and improving your skillsDisplay strong work ethic and ownership.
  • Keep calm and learn everyday.
Skills and Experience
  • Hands on experience in designing and building scalable Android apps.
  • Experience in writing effective Unit and Instrumentation tests using platform best practices.
  • Working with Cloud interaction heavy applications which require efficient state syncing, local storage and offline capabilities.
  • Working with Android apps which support a large gamut of API versions and complications that come with it
Requirements
  • Over 6 years experience working with Application development in the Android ecosystem.
  • Strong knowledge of Android platform internals and Java. Knowledge of Kotlin is a major plus since it looks like the future !
  • Good communication skills, able to engage and explain technical topics to peers and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of architectural patterns and able to come up with high-level designs for features.
  • Must be able to contribute towards building test specifications of features and look through solution gaps.
  • Knowledge of UI automation frameworks such as Espresso and UIAutomator is a bonus.
  • Should be willing to pick it up on the job if not already well versed.
  • Knowledge of android build tools systems.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about the platform. Acts as an ambassador for the company and team at developer events.
