Position summary
Evolent Health is seeking a security focused Sr. Linux Server System Administrator to be a member of Evolent Health s IT Infrastructure team. This position will play a crucial role in supporting the IT needs of our staff on a day to day basis. The ideal candidate will be able to think creatively, work efficiently, and adapt quickly to the ever- changing priorities that come with supporting a large organization.
Essential functions
Implement, Manage and Maintain Enterprise Linux in a traditional data center and cloud environments Work collaboratively on patching, endpoint, and license administration Support, configuration, and maintenance Design, run, and develop administrative scripts Maintain documentation of system administration procedures, and architecture design Recommend enhancements and escalate concerns to troubleshoot and remediate system issues Review and influence evolving designs, architectures, standards, and methods for operating services and systems. Work closely with the application team to support requirements and releases Maintaining patch levels of software installations across multiple systems Ensure version and change control procedure adherence
The Experience You ll Need (Required):
10+ years of experience in large scale enterprise and/or hosted environment 10+ years of experience with Red Hat, CentOS, or Ubuntu Strong scripting skills in any one of languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby, or Java and/or shell scripting. Must be able to write self- contained scripts that can easily be plugged into automation tools such as Puppet, Chef or Ansible. Tomcat and Apache web Server administration (Deployment, Troubleshooting). Must have hands- on experience configuring Virtual hosts under Apache. Troubleshooting and fixing errors common to Applications and Application servers Application Deployment - Java, Standalone Custom Apps, COTS Products Version Control Software Setup, Administration, Configuration (GIT, Subversion, CVS) Experience Integrating/Configuring Tomcat (any Java Application Server) Experience supporting VMWARE infrastructure in a large enterprise environment. Experience configuring Linux guests in a VMware ESX environment Ability to develop a complete disaster recovery and system backup plan with the responsibility of producing and maintaining all system documentation Expertise in developing automated scripts for monitoring or analyzing the operation of infrastructure, including Nagios scripts, log file reporting, Spacewalk/RedHat Satellite and Puppet scripts Must be able to work with minimal supervision, is self- motivated and able to define, plan and implement long- term goals, tasks and projects Ability to technically lead a project through the lifecycle and consult with the customer on business requirements Excellent problem solving, multitasking, troubleshooting skills and attention to details are required to work in this challenging and dynamic environment Very strong interpersonal, customer service, result oriented and team building skills are essential Have excellent communication skills written, verbal, and presentation Writing and modifying scripts (e.g.: JSON and PowerShell) for deploying cloud infrastructure Experience using infrastructure monitoring tools Participate in audits, scanning and remediation processes, etc. Experience with centralized patching best practices Security focused Security standards NIST 800- 53, High Trust, FISMA, and HIPAA.
