Job Description

Team Leader - AnalyticalReporting to (Title): Group Leader - AnalyticalPosition PurposeThe role holder shall lead a team of research scientists, direct and supervise analytical activities viz. Develop analytical techniques and carry out analysis of synthesised target molecules in accordance with the project timelines and objectives leading to the discovery, and pre-development of innovative chemicals for crop protection / crop growth with an aim of adding significant value to the business of PI. The team leader is responsible for ensuring a high level of team performance through motivation, knowledge sharing and effective team leadershipStrategic Responsibilities

  • Drives innovation in the team by actively seeking contributions from team members, by providing encouragement and team environment conducive to fostering new ideas
  • Contributes to the success of CreAgro Chemistry by providing technical leadership, directing and coaching the team and ensuring that analytical goals are met with
Operational Responsibilities
  • Create work plans and allocate work to team members.
  • Provide inputs on project deliverables, time lines and resources to be used for executing work
  • Resolve any technical queries from team related to analytical activites
  • Review results and ensure correctness and validity of analysis and findings
  • Review and approve reports / papers documented by Analytical Scientists
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, information security and quality norms related to analytical procedures
  • Identify and implement process improvement inititatives under direction of Head - Chemistry
  • Participate in knowledge management initiatives by actively contributing to KM portal and encouraging team members to do the same
  • Report progress on assigned projects as directed by group leader
Financial Responsibilities
  • Provide inputs on budgets to group leader
  • Track and provide reports on variance with budgets
People Responsibilities
  • Ensure adequate team staffing and provide support in screening candidates for hiring
  • Lead professional development through continuous learning and development initiatives within and outside the organization
  • Foster a learning culture in team on topics of latest analytical techniques and agro chemistry
  • Collaborate with team members and cross functional teams to meet research objectives
  • Support Group Leader to set performance goals, review performance of team members and in providing ongoing feedback on development areas
  • Train new joiners and mentor and coach all team members to enhance their performance
Education Qualification
  • MSc/PhD in Organic/Analytical Chemistry / Agro Chemistry from a reputed University / Institute with excellent academic credentials.
  • Post-doctoral research experience in a reputed university abroad, preferably in the US, West Europe or Japan
  • Research publications and/or patents appreciated
Work Experience6-10 years of post academic industrial research experience with at least 2-3 years of team management experience.Industry to be Hired fromAgro Chemical / Pharma / Research Universities or Institutes.Functional Competencies
