Job Description

    System Administrator (Sysadmin) Job DescriptionRole OverviewA System Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting an organizations IT infrastructure, ensuring systems run efficiently, securely, and with minimal downtime.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and operating systems (Windows/Linux)Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issuesManage user accounts, permissions, and access controlPerform regular system backups and recovery operationsEnsure system security through updates, patches, and monitoring toolsMaintain network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VPN, firewalls)Handle hardware and software upgradesAutomate routine tasks using scripts (e.g., Bash, PowerShell)Support IT helpdesk queries and resolve technical issuesMaintain documentation for systems and processesRequired SkillsStrong knowledge of Linux/Unix and/or Windows ServerNetworking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)Experience with virtualization tools (VMware, Hyper-V)Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Basic scripting (Shell, Python, or PowerShell)Understanding of cybersecurity best practicesProblem-solving and troubleshooting skillsPreferred QualificationsBachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or related fieldCertifications such as:CompTIA ServerRHCSA / RHCEMicrosoft Certified: Azure AdministratorExperience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, etc.)Experience2-3 yearsSoft SkillsStrong communication skillsTime management and multitasking abilityAttention to detailAbility to work under pressure
