Role Overview:As a Data Science & Analytics Manager at Caterpillar Inc., you will have the opportunity to champion the Digital Finance-Disruptive Technology Team for the Global Finance Services Division. Your primary responsibility will be to solve business problems presented through applied analytics. You will be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, innovation, initiative, and people development. Additionally, you will act as the key point of contact between the India-based team and the US-based team.Key Responsibilities:- Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge in applying statistical methods and digital methods to solve business problems- Oversee the performance of individual team members and the team as a whole, identifying and addressing staff training and development needs- Coach, mentor, and lead other Data Scientists in creating, validating, and applying statistical models, as well as implementing digital solutions- Participate in 3-5 projects concurrently- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Caterpillar Inc., its products and services, internal systems, processes, and procedures, and relevant external influences to meet or exceed customer expectations- Research and apply new methods to exceed customer expectations- Focus on continual learning in the Analytics field- Act as the overall technical lead for the team in establishing a sound analytic approach for problem-solving- Develop networks within the technical community to collaborate on technical solutions and ensure the success of the teamQualifications Required:- An accredited 4-year degree in accounting, finance, statistics, economics, mathematics, or a similar field with quantitative coursework and 4 years of experience OR Masters degree in an associated field and 3 years of experience- Comfortable working in MS Office and industry-standard statistics and data visualization packages- Strong history demonstrating leadership, initiative, interpersonal skills, and effective communication- Experience with programming languages such as Julia, Python, R, and familiarity with basic database design and intermediate-level SQL skills- Understanding of the differences between proof-of-concept projects and production-level projects- Experience with various types of data science problems and relevant data structures- Ability to explain findings in practical terms and using machine learning explanation methodsAdditional Information:This Job Description serves as a general guide to the job duties for this position and establishes the specific salary grade.
