Payments Senior Software Engineering Delivery Lead

Job Description

As a Payments Senior Software Engineering Delivery Lead at Investec, you will play a crucial role in leading a team of 8-12 software engineers to deliver high-quality, cloud-native payment solutions on the Azure platform. Your responsibilities will include driving engineering excellence, promoting modern software delivery practices, and ensuring innovation and operational resilience across payment processing, routing, orchestration, and event-driven architectures.**Key Responsibilities:**- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 8-12 software engineers, fostering a high-performance and growth-oriented culture.- Own the delivery of Azure-based payment systems that are resilient, fault-tolerant, performant, and secure.- Embed modern engineering practices including CI/CD, trunk-based development, automated testing, DevSecOps, observability, infrastructure-as-code, and AI-assisted SDLC optimization.- Provide strong technical guidance on Azure-native services and patterns.- Lead engineering delivery across various types of payments and ensure support for reconciliation, exception handling, routing logic, and operational monitoring.- Continuously improve tooling, automation, and delivery workflows.- Align engineering objectives with measurable business KPIs.- Champion security, risk, and compliance in software development practices.**Qualifications Required:**- Proven experience leading engineers in complex, mission-critical environments, ideally in financial services or payments.- Extensive experience designing and delivering solutions on Microsoft Azure.- Forward-looking mindset with practical understanding of AIs role in software engineering.- Ability to balance innovation with governance in a financial services context.**Additional Company Details:**At Investec, you will be empowered to bring your authentic self, contribute new ideas, and grow alongside colleagues who share your drive for excellence.
