Platform Engineer - Director- Software Engineering

Job Description

As a Platform Engineering Director in the CDRR Technology team at Morgan Stanley, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining software solutions to support business needs. Here is what you can expect in this role:- Contribute to the function through complex project tasks and initiatives by interacting regularly with team members and occasionally leadership on various topics.- Design, deploy, and operate containerized applications on Kubernetes.- Build, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines for platform and application teams.- Own and improve platform observability using metrics, logs, dashboards, and alerts.- Troubleshoot production issues, drive root cause analysis, and improve system availability.- Support web-based deployments including APIs, backend services, and UI applications.- Work with application teams to onboard services with proper authentication and authorization such as OAuth2, SSO, and JWT.- Participate in system design, capacity planning, and performance tuning to ensure platform stability, scalability, and operational readiness.- Develop Python-based automation to reduce manual operational work and standardize routine tasks using Python and/or Ansible.- Implement AI-assisted automation where appropriate and integrate AI services into workflows to improve efficiency.- Apply basic prompt engineering and workflow orchestration for AI-enabled use cases while ensuring AI usage follows enterprise guardrails, logging, and human-in-the-loop controls.Qualifications:- At least 4 years of relevant experience.- Ability to process information, translate into plans, and present summaries to stakeholders.- Strong experience as a Platform/SRE/DevOps Engineer.- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Python.- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Linux environments, observability tools, authentication mechanisms, and databases.- Exposure to AI/GenAI tools, Ansible, Terraform, or Helm.- Familiarity with cloud-native concepts and services.- Experience operating in regulated or large-scale enterprise platforms with a focus on stability, scalability, and continuous improvement.At Morgan Stanley, you will have the opportunity to work alongside the best and brightest, supported and empowered in an environment that values diversity, inclusion, and collaboration.
