Software Engineer 1 (SQL & PL/SQL Developer)

Job Description

As a member of the Compliance Cloud team at PowerSchool, your role involves designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based services that support compliance reporting, transcript exchange, and secondary reporting. Your responsibilities will include:- State & Federal Reporting: - Building survey submission workflows - Developing validation rule engines - Creating Step Function orchestrations - Implementing SQS-based async processing- Student Transcript Exchange: - Developing transcript request/response systems - Integrating with SFTP platforms like Florida FASTER - Generating Section 508-compliant PDFs - Tracking the lifecycle of transcripts- Secondary Reporting: - Creating scheduled report pipelines - Configuring and logging execution - Generating file outputs- Data Engineering: - Maintaining DBT models in Snowflake - Optimizing queries - Managing DynamoDB metadata and status tracking- Infrastructure & DevOps: - Using AWS CDK (TypeScript) to manage various AWS services - Supporting monorepo builds with Yarn/Nx - Implementing GitLab CI/CD and LaunchDarkly feature flags- Frontend: - Building accessible React/TypeScript UIs with SCSS and Webpack - Developing dashboards, surveys, transcripts, and reporting interfacesMinimum Qualifications:- 3 years of experience in SQL and PL/SQL- Proficiency in using AI code editors like Cursor or Github Copilot- Experience with Oracle or other RDBMS- Familiarity with tools such as SQL Developer, Jira, and Git- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams- Ability to mentor junior team members- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Passion for technology and a desire to learn and growPreferred Qualifications:- Experience in client-side JavaScript or Typescript and related frameworks like Angular and jQuery- Knowledge of object-oriented programming in Java or Typescript- Familiarity with Spring MVC, Hibernate, and web servicesPowerSchool is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace.
