Job Description

As a Software Architect at Applied Materials, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing high-performance computing software solutions for the organization. Your responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into architectural designs, coding and developing prototypes, and acting as a subject matter expert in the HPC domain. Here are the key responsibilities:- Design and implement high-performance computing software solutions.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and translate requirements into architectural/software designs.- Code and develop quick prototypes to validate designs.- Act as a subject matter expert to support software engineers in the HPC domain.- Profile systems to identify bottlenecks and optimize workflows, code, and processes.- Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance during the development process.- Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the software development lifecycle.- Evaluate and recommend technologies and frameworks to meet project requirements.- Lead the design and implementation of complex software components.- Ensure software systems are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.- Mentor and coach junior software architects and engineers.Qualifications required for this role include:- 7 to 15 years of experience in design and coding in C/C in a Linux environment.- Proficiency in data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.- Experience in developing distributed high-performance computing software using frameworks like MPI, UCX, etc.- In-depth knowledge of multi-threading, thread synchronization, inter-process communication, and distributed computing fundamentals.- Good understanding of computer science fundamentals such as operating systems internals, networking, and storage systems.- Experience in performance profiling and optimization techniques.- Familiarity with GPU programming, microservices architecture, and containerization technologies.- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.- Experience in Agile development methodologies.Additional qualifications that would be beneficial for this role include experience in HPC job-scheduling and cluster management software, knowledge of low-latency and high-throughput data transfer technologies, and familiarity with workflow orchestration software.If you are someone who is driven to learn quickly, can multitask effectively, and adapt to changing business needs, this role at Applied Materials could be the perfect opportunity for you.
