Software Engineering Manager

Job Description

As a Software Engineering Manager at Medtronic, you will lead the Platform & Embedded Software functional area by managing a team of engineers to drive growth and success. Your responsibilities will include:- Leading a team that designs and develops Platform & Embedded Software- Representing your team within the wider software organization- Collaborating with cross-functional teams in the R&D organization- Establishing sustainable processes for product development- Driving best practices and innovation within your functional area- Removing barriers for the team- Participating in design reviews- Mentoring and coaching team members- Implementing process and quality improvementsQualifications required for this role include:- Bachelors or masters degree in engineering with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience- Managing a cross-functional engineering team of 20 or more- Experience in software development processes such as Agile and waterfall methodology- Leadership experience in platform software development in regulated industries- Proficiency in software development tools and IDEs- Familiarity with operating systems like Windows, QNX, and Linux- Strong understanding of design patterns and SDLC processes- Experience in test-driven development and unit testing- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum/SAFe practices- Ability to distill software requirements from system requirements- Experience with communication protocols and network troubleshooting- Proficiency in debugging and root cause analysis techniques- Experience in risk management analysis of software- Background in surgical robotics is a plusIn addition to the above responsibilities and qualifications, Medtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package, including the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
