Software Engineering Team Leader (Engineering Manager) - Comdb2, Pune

Job Description

As a Team Leader for the new Comdb2 Platform Engineering team in Pune, India, your role will involve building and leading a team to ensure continuous availability, high performance, and feature stability for all Comdb2 instances. Your responsibilities will include:- Building up the Comdb2 Platform Engineering Pune team from the ground up, recruiting and hiring for open positions and establishing a collaborative team culture- Providing mentorship and guidance to team members to foster a culture of technical excellence and ownership- Offering technical leadership on all projects tackled by the team- Working with senior management to prioritize high-impact projects and propose ideas to improve Comdb2 workflows- Designing tools and automation for provisioning, scaling, failover, backup, and recovery of databases- Collaborating with Engineering and DevOps teams to design resilient database architectures and testing frameworks- Participating in on-call rotations to support database-related incidents and outages and improve system reliability- Providing guidance and best practices to database owners on performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning- Supporting database schema design, migrations, and data lifecycle managementQualifications required for this role include:- Track record of leadership and managing teams- Experience in mentoring other engineers and influencing technology strategy- Strong reliability-first mindset with the ability to anticipate and mitigate issues in large-scale systems- Software engineering experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Python- Understanding of making changes to a large-scale live production system safely and responsiblyDesirable qualifications include:- Experience managing databases in Kubernetes or other containerized environments- Knowledge of RDBMS (Comdb2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and/or NoSQL platforms (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra)- Experience with replication, sharding, and multiregional deployment strategies- Experience with C and/or CIf you believe you possess the skills and experience required for this role, we encourage you to apply.
