Job Description

The Advanced Customer Engineer will be part of a dynamic team of software engineers as part of the Advanced Customer Engineering organization of Juniper s Routing Platforms Team. Duties involve coordinating and driving activities between multiple geographical locations and cross-functional teams (Engineering and CS/JTAC) to ensure the smooth flow of information and clear communication in solving urgent customer escalations efficiently.

Responsibilities:
  • Presenting updates and explanations of deeply technical issues to various levels at customers.
  • Tracking and prioritizing issues and aligning resources to address these issues within development engineering.
  • Reporting to engineering management on issues/updates.
  • Working with various parts of engineering as required to coordinate troubleshooting and investigative efforts towards finding root-cause specifically for issues on RBU platforms (Routing Business Unit, Platforms: M/MX, T/TX and PTX)
  • Assembling and providing necessary technical information to service personnel on customer presentations on problem resolution.
  • Presenting to customers details on specific bugs and their resolution.
  • Helping with identification of continuous improvement steps and implementing the same within the engineering organization as an on-going activity.
  • Tracking specific requirements for customers against release schedules, including targeted service releases for the assigned bugs.
  • Assisting with specific test plan reviews to identify gaps in customer-specific JUNOS qualification efforts and upgrades; and following through within engineering for appropriate efforts both from development and test perspective to address issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/MS with a minimum of 8 years of software development/Technical support experience.
  • Highly desirable debugged complex problems and reproduction of issues with ease
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in C/C++, gdb, and scripting languages like Perl, Expect, Python
  • Excellent customer interaction and presentation skills.
  • Project management and experience coordinating cross-functional teams is a plus.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Unix.
  • Strong working knowledge of IP routing protocols, MPLS, and MPLS based VPNs, Virtual router and protocol and networking essentials.
  • Strong working knowledge of Packet Forwading, CoS/QoS.
  • Depth knowledge of Copper and Optical/OTN interfaces.
  • Background in quality processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

- JNCIE preferred in Service Provider Routing
