Job Description

The Product Control (sometimes referred to as Line of Business Control) function is primarily responsible for ownership of the balance sheet and P&L from a process/policy standpoint and direct relationship with the sub-LOB business units.Key responsibilities include:

  • Review loan level financial transactions in order to produce daily or monthly ledger roll-forward views
  • Assess transaction activity for proper accounting treatment based on Firm accounting policies and GAAP
  • Investigate variances in account balances on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis and provide explanations
  • Partner with MIS to source appropriate data elements for reporting or analysis requests
  • Partner with Financial Controller team to assist with analysis and/or reporting of balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain automated accounting systems and using computer resources to generate periodic reports and statements
  • Represent MB Servicing Product Controller team in remediation or other projects as needed
  • Responsible for elements of month-end close process
  • May perform other Servicing Product Control assignments as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, finance or related discipline; Advanced degree or professional certification preferred
  • Preferably 5+ years of professional accounting experience; previous public accounting experience a plus
  • Strong data-mining skills required
  • Knowledge of SAP General Ledger and Hyperion Essbase a plus
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office) are required
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute to the broader team
  • Ability to multi-task and be hands on in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Creative thinker with strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to present information to management in a concise manner
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Shift: 2PM to 11PM IST. This may vary due to business requirements
