Job Description

  • Develop test plan and conduct internal reviews
  • Develop test criteria and test scenarios to ensure all aspects of the plan provisions and calculation mechanics are represented. Review with internal team to ensure full coverage of project scope.
  • Set up test cases through queries and data manipulation
  • Set up standard Calculation Certification reporting database (test matrix).
  • Produce a subset of Expected Results (sample calculations) showing calculation steps in detail. Walk through with Config programmers.
  • Perform Calculation Certification of the calculation engine based on plan rules and reviewing results in detail based on project requirements.
  • Perform Calculation Certification of manual calculations programmed in the calculation spreadsheet based on plan rules and reviewing results in detailed based on project requirements.
  • Log accurate, detailed incidents and verify incident fixes
  • Drive identification and resolution of certification problems, escalating as appropriate
  • Assist Actuarial Application Developer in identifying issues (e.g. - data, wrong factors, etc.)
  • Analyze regression test results during projects and for incident fixes.
  • Maintain regression baselines and validate all bug fixes and monthly engine builds
  • Have clear understanding of plan rules and how they translate into calculation results.
  • Ability to review client materials such as plan documents, sample calculations, SPDs, admin manuals, etc as needed
  • Identify necessary clarifications or gaps within the plan rules.
  • Make updates to plan rules to address the gaps.
  • Triage the PPMC Bugs logged.
The Value You DeliverPension Test Consultants support Defined Benefits group within Fidelitys Benefit Plan Services organization. They serve a key role as a Defined Benefit expert to maintain the quality of the calculation engine and confirm that the calculation engine and calculation spreadsheet are coded correctly based on the plan rules. Along with other activities that help the DB calculations to be bug free.The Skills that are Key to this role

How Your Work Impacts the OrganizationDefined Benefits (Retirement Services) supports our business partners in the US in servicing corporate / institutional customers in benefits administration vertical. This involves moving the customers to the Fidelity platform and supporting their on-going record-keeping needs. This is done through a series of processes, both technical and non-technical, that helps a customer to use our products and services.The primary focus of the team is on Defined BenefitsThe Expertise We re Looking For
  • At least 3 years of DB experience
  • Working knowledge of a wide variety of defined benefit plans
  • Familiarity with defined benefit legislation and related defined benefit terminology. In particular PPA, Relative Value, EGGTRA and pertinent parts of ERISA.
  • Understanding of Internal Revenue Code and Department of Labor regulations as they apply to defined benefit plans and may be necessary for performance in the role. In particular, 401(a)(17), 409a, 417(e), 415 and MRD.
  • Experience with programming of benefit calculations, spreadsheets and database applications is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Fidelity DB systems from Data/ Domain perspective
  • Former calc developers, project analysts/ calc associates preferred
  • Knowledge of calculation methods and actuarial concepts preferred
