Job Description

Job DescriptionTitle: Global Product Master Data: Data LeadWL: 1DLocation: BangaloreBackgroundThe Global Master Data Management Programme is a core strategic initiative and an underpinning component of UniOps Organisation at Unilever. Our aim is to deliver a globally aligned process and governance toolset for the Core Data Masters and ensure the integrity of content, process and design from point of creation, maintenance and through to reporting.Who You Are & What You will Do The Global Product MD Data Lead supports Product CoE Lead in all day to day activities. The main responsibility is to ensure compliance to data governance and data quality policies for respective Master Data domains and implementation of data models and integrations strategies to support all MD processes.Key Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise to support for product Master Data to all the stakeholders.
  • Understand functional business rules and how they relate to data
  • Work with the process lead in implementing Product Data policies, models, integration strategies and standards to support the MD processes
  • Help functional lead in identifying and analysing Product Master Data related issues relating to data integrity in business processes, specifically relating to attributes and the flow of data between platforms. Perform root cause analysis of the issues. Come up with corrective and preventive solutions. Document the issues as part of knowledge management and ensure that same issue does not occur again.
Specific output:
  • Data Model:The data lead will identify all attributes required for Product Master Data by
    • Doing a detailed analysis of current systems and processes using appropriate tools for extract and mappings
    • Understanding the full scope and complexity of the future system design
Output: Global Master Data model (MDD)
  • Data Lineage:
The data lead will track each attribute and understand
  • The origin of the data element
  • Document it s full flow and therefore show all systems, people and entities that engage with this entity
Output: Full Data flow & Lineage which will feed into Enterprise Data Catalogue
  • Data Ownership & Rules:The data lead will clearly identify:
    • The correct data owner
    • Legitimate Values per attribute
    • Rules associated with each attribute
    • Manual effort required when no rules available
Output: Rule book with Requirements to implement in Pega & DQ to enable accuracy and efficiency
  • Data Impact:The data architect will clearly identify:
    • All the relevant end purposes of each attribute,
      • whether it be for reporting, transactions or enable processes, etc.
    • Ensure that appropriate risk indicators are assigned to manage business risks
    • Ensure that appropriate mitigations and rules are in place to manage risks

  • Expertise on Product Master Data domain across all business areas involved in the Product life cycle
  • Ability to identify Product Master Data issues in all the upstream and downstream business processes
  • Ability to address Product Master Data issues based on experience and subject matter expertise
  • Experienced in defining data standards, policies and practices for Product Master Data
  • Ability to understand the integration and impact of data across business areas and platforms
  • Ability to identify and resolve data quality related issues
