Job Description

PurposeThe Onsite Support Engineer plans, directs and coordinates onsite Second Level Support to resolve local and international incidents and service requests, provide onsite support services for hardware/software systems, management of local vendor support contracts, ongoing maintenance and monitoring of local network and devices, inventory tracking and collaborate with central Information and Technology Services department in Germany for implementation of new systems.Key Responsibilities

  • Clarifies incident or problem with employee and coordinate with German IT team.
  • Resolves hardware and software incidents/service requests in his/her responsibility, which have been placed and documented in the IT ticket system and HRMS in consultation with German IT.
  • Monitors effectiveness of tasks and makes recommendations for improvement of processes and procedures (Continual improvement).
  • Provides technical support for local hardware (e.g. printers) and end user devices (e.g. thin clients, fat clients, mobile devices).
  • Support for unified communication systems (e.g. phone, fax, video conferencing systems including upkeep of conference rooms).
  • Support for local and remote Citrix users, if not covered elsewhere
  • User and access management for local users (e.g. RSA-token administration and delivery)
  • Installs, moves, adds and changes onsite IT infrastructure, systems and end user devices (e.g. printer, mobiles) and, if necessary, offsite at events. E.g support of full life cycle from procurement to adequate disposal.
  • Windows OS and applications provisioning with Matrix42/Empirum for desktop PCs and laptops (central software distribution depot).
  • Responsible for technical Onboarding of new employees, provides guidance and IT support (workplace installation, user and access management, arrange for trainings needed, etc.).
  • Instructs and trains users in the hardware and software in his/her responsibility and IT processes in general.
  • Keeps inventory of all IT equipment/ IT assets.
  • Continuously adapts local IT infrastructure with regards to growth and performance (e.g. ordering of end user devices) in alignment with the central Information and Technology Services department in Germany.
  • Contributes to local planning and reviews on the IT aspects of business continuity/disaster recovery requirements.
Service delivery management
  • Establishes and manages the operational relationship with local IT suppliers and searches for best solutions for new purchases (e.g. Internet Service Provider, printer provider, franking machine supplier).
  • Reviews performance of local suppliers against defined and confirmed service level agreements, if applicable.
  • Ensures the provision of specific external resources / technical skills required to fix complex or severe incidents / problems.
  • Raises service improvements when needed, manage issues until resolution.
Person Specification
  • Undergraduate degree in IT focused area, such as computer science or related discipline
  • 1-2 years system and workplace administration experience
  • Knowledge of operating systems, system administration
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP network.
  • Proven usage of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Prior experience working with Cisco Systems is an added advantage.
  • Great organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent analytical and conceptual, planning and process development skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally
