Job Description

    Role Overview:You are a highly motivated and business-oriented Associate Manager - Legal, expected to join the in-house legal team at PhonePe. Your role will involve having a strong foundation in contracting, experience in various types of procurement contracts, and handling general commercial agreements relevant to the Indian corporate and regulatory environment. It is crucial to maintain a balance of legal acumen, commercial awareness, and stakeholder management to ensure alignment of all business operations with applicable laws and contractual obligations while supporting strategic business goals.Key Responsibilities:- Contract Drafting, Review & Negotiation - Draft, review, vet, and negotiate various agreements like procurement agreements, MSAs, NDAs, SLAs, licensing agreements, and consulting/service contracts, ensuring clarity of commercial terms, risk assessment, and protection of company interests. - Customize standard templates and build negotiation playbooks tailored to the companys risk appetite and processes.- Stakeholder & Business Partnering - Engage with cross-functional teams for their contracting needs, act as a legal advisor on commercial matters, and participate in internal negotiations from a legal standpoint.- Compliance & Legal Risk Management - Ensure compliance with relevant Indian laws, stay updated on regulatory frameworks, and maintain legal trackers and contract repositories.- Policy, Process & Template Management - Develop and update contract templates, legal SOPs, drive awareness of legal and compliance policies through internal trainings, and contribute to automation initiatives for contract lifecycle management.Qualification Required:- Must-Have Qualifications & Experience: - LLB or LLM from a recognized Indian law school/university. - 4 years of total PQE with experience in procurement contracts and contract negotiation. - Familiarity with Indian IT regulatory frameworks.- Key Skills: - Strong command of Indian contract law and commercial legal principles. - Advanced legal drafting and redlining skills. - Excellent negotiation skills with internal and external parties. - Proficiency in legal tools, MS Office, and contract management systems.- Soft Skills: - High integrity and professional ethics. - Strong interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills. - Ability to manage workload independently with minimal supervision. - Problem-solving attitude with a focus on enabling business within legal boundaries.Additional Details:At PhonePe, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment and be part of a legal team that plays a strategic role in enabling scalable, technology-led growth.
