Employee performs semi-skilled work in preparing and cooking a variety of foodstuffs for a dining hall or cafeteria. Work involves preparing and cooking a wide variety of foodstuffs, some of which may require special techniques and care to reduce costs and to serve properly. Duties of the Job 1. Prepares and cooks a variety of simple foodstuffs. 2. Operates standard cooking equipment such as mixers, steamers, toasters, choppers, fryers, ovens and stoves. 3. Participates in kitchen cleaning work, such as washing and cleaning equipment. 4. Assists in preparing entrees and special menus. 5. Packages and freezes samples of all food served to comply with health regulations. 6. Secures food supplies from storerooms and/or refrigerators. 7. Assigns tasks to a helper. 8. Occasionally replaces a more experienced cook in the latters absence. 9. May assist in storeroom duties such as receiving orders, rotating stock and taking inventory.
