Job Description

Basic Function : - The Junior Data Architect / Analyst works with Data Architect / EDM Offshore Lead to provide technical expertise in needs identification, data modeling, data movement and transformation mapping (source to target), automation and testing strategies, translating business needs into technical solutions with adherence to established data guidelines and approaches from a business unit or project perspective. Understands and leverages best-fit technologies (e.g., traditional star schema structures, cloud, Hadoop, NoSQL, etc.) and approaches to address business and environmental challenges - Provides data understanding and coordinate data related activities with other data management groups such as master data management, data governance, and metadata management. - Actively participates with other consultants in problem-solving and approach development. Essential Functions : - (45%) Provide a consultative approach with business users, asking questions to understand the business need and deriving the data flow, conceptual, logical, and physical data models based on those needs. Perform data analysis to validate data models and to confirm the ability to meet business needs. - (35%) Assist with and support setting the data architecture direction (including data movement approach, architecture/technology strategy, and any other data-related considerations to ensure business value,) ensuring data architecture deliverables are developed, ensuring compliance to standards and guidelines, implementing the data architecture, and supporting technical developers at a project or business unit level - (15%) Coordinate and consult with the Data Architect, project manager, client business staff, client technical staff and project developers in data architecture best practices and anything else that is data related at the project or business unit levels - (5%) Other duties as requested or assigned Primary Internal Interactions : - Coordinate with Data Architect, project manager and participate in recurring meetings - Help and mentor team members to understand the data model and subject areas. - Ensure that the team adheres to best practices and guidelines. Primary External Interactions : - Work closely with Business Analyst and Solution Architect to design the data model satisfying the business needs and adhering to Enterprise Architecture. Organizational Relationships : Reports To : Data Architect / EDM Offshore Lead Supervises : NA Skills Technical Skills : - Can effectively utilize SQL and/or available BI tool to validate/elaborate business rules. - Demonstrates understanding and competency with approaches/methodologies for at least one EDM area, in addition to Data Architecture, and applies this knowledge in collaborating with the team to design effective solutions to business problems/issues. - Demonstrates an understanding of EDM architectures and applies this knowledge in collaborating with the team to design effective solutions to business problems/issues. - Effectively influences and, at times, oversees business and data analysis activities to ensure sufficient understanding and quality of data. - Produces high-quality results and deliverables that meet client needs. - Demonstrates a complete understanding of and utilizes DSC methodology documents to efficiently complete assigned roles and associated tasks. - Ability to work with business/technical users to solicit business requirements independently - Ability to independently draft complete detail documentation templates (i.e., Design Specs, Test Plans, etc.) that have a professional appearance for review by managers. - Deals effectively with all team members and build strong working relationships/rapport with them. - Demonstrates ability to organize tasks and time necessary to complete assigned tasks/deliverables. - Demonstrates ability to motivate team members and assist them in meeting their goals and commitments. - Deep knowledge of data warehousing concepts including Data Architecture, Integration, governance and quality Process Specific Skills : - Ability to adapt to a variety of team work environments, as this changes client to client Soft skills (Desired): - Experience working with multi-divisional business communities to leverage information across the enterprise to improve business effectiveness - Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem identification and resolution skills Soft Skills (Minimum): - Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities - Strong written/oral communication and presentation/interpersonal skills - Highly self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment Education Requirements : - Bachelors degree or equivalent experience Work Experience Requirements : - 4 to 5 years of data architecture, data modeling or similar experience - Preferred 1-2 years consulting experience including work done at clients onsite locations - Experience using major data modeling tools (examples: ERwin, ER/Studio, PowerDesigner, etc.) - Experience with major database platforms (e.g, Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, etc.) - Understanding and experience with major Data Architecture philosophies (Dimensional, ODS, Data Vault, etc.) - Understanding of modern data warehouse capabilities and technologies such as real-time, cloud, Big Data. - Experience in requirements gathering - Experience in working with globally diverse teams - Knowledge of data warehousing tools such as Informatica, Datastage, SSIS etc. preferred Annexures: Acknowledgment (acknowledge that the information contained in this document is factual and complete) Candidate Supervisor/Manager Date,
