What youll be doing

• Provides technical quality assurance over work of other engineers through matrix team structure.
• Provides sound technical expertise to consult on significant component(s) of a technical solution within a specific domain or cross domain.
• Identifies opportunities to improve standards of practice within a project, continuously enhancing ways of working.
• Delivers resolutions to problems that tend to be complex, cross-domain or of high impact to customers.
• May have cross-component or system accountability for larger or more complex projects, e.g. those with more interconnectedness or employing new technologies/products.
• Responsible for direct customer interaction with an equivalent level in that organisation, e.g. interface on NGA2 with their peers in Sky or other organisations.
• May be responsible for the integration of a third party product within the wider solution, and managing that suppliers deliverable in terms of quality.
• Responsible for driving transformational activities within work packages, including innovation, re-use and automation.
• Primary responsibility for a system with approximately 1000 users, or an external mobile app with millions of users.
• Decide when the best course to deliver customer requirements is not to employ current standards or frameworks, and be able to justify these and follow governance processes.
• Can decide when to use a new tool subject within overarching architectural, licensing or strategic constraints; accountable for driving the case for making this change to a new tool, including benefits and impact of change; decide on integration choices.
• Decide the best course of action during an urgent or complex situation for problems with solutions developed within their team/s.
• Decisions are likely to be shared with an architect.

• Problem Solving:Able to solve complex problems, typically including identifying what information needs to be collected, how to obtain it, and how to reproduce the problem before attempting to solve it. Solve problems that tend to be of a high impact on the customer. Own the totality of the whole problem, including decomposing it, and potentially draw on other people to solve it.
• Change Management: Ability to drive continuous improvement through changes in working practises and technologies within the assigned area of influence. When managing change within a delivered solution, define how the change will be managed, e.g. define initial setup of configuration management, build, continuous integration, and automated deployment systems.
• Software Development Concepts: Understands and experienced with the use of a wide range of programming concepts and is also aware of and has applied a range of algorithms.
• Commercial & Risk Awareness: The ability to demonstrate awareness of and contribution to BTs commercial strategies including understanding of the external environment such as relevant markets, BTs competitors and associated products and services and the risks and opportunities they may provide. Ability to raise opportunities and risks for consideration appropriately through line management or others to support successful outcomes.

• Technical Expert: Able to be a Product Subject Matter Expert (SME) and lead on portfolio work packages for that product.
• Creating Maintainable Code: Experienced in test-driven development. Able to recognise and apply a wide range of refactoring strategies to modern code. Employs code coverage tools to drive testing.
• Database Concepts:Experienced with a wide range of relational database technologies including; stored procedures, triggers, data-replication. Familiar with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) techniques. Aware of alternative database technologies and data storage approaches.
• Should be having a technical qualification like BE/BTech/ME/MTech.
• Should have a minimum experience of 9 plus years in the same domain.
