The Amazon Softlines team is looking for a talented, smart, experienced and entrepreneurial and highly motivated Design Lead to help us build a truly exceptional private brands for womenswear fashion business.Joining the Amazon Softlines team means partnering with a dynamic and creative group that sets a high bar for innovation and success in a fast-paced and changing environment. The Design Lead will manage a team of Fashion Designers working across womenswear Private Brands owned by Amazon and set the design direction for the same. The candidate will be responsible for managing design & product development across these all categories of womenswear brands, building relationships with vendors/manufacturers, driving incremental selection in the apparel and accessories and work with stakeholder teams to deliver a best-in-class customer experience that will result in category leadership in the online market segment.We expect the Design Lead to be a passionate customer and category advocate within Amazon, with proven design & product development capabilities, project management skills, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritise and multi-task. The candidate must be an effective leader and communicator in working with some of Amazon s most important partners and vendors, as well as with internal cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for brand building and retail, have a deep understanding of industry trends and demonstrate a high level of ownership and customer obsession.The Design Lead must be able to: Act as the business owner for his or her categories, possessing an understanding of internal and external variables that impact our business (this entails owning trend forecasting, understanding market gaps, opportunities & competition, understanding all technical aspects of product development in their assigned category/categories, along with responsibility for driving strategic projects to achieve business objectives) Have a thorough understanding of the industry, seasonality and global trends / events, and must continually monitor competitor/industry developments Maximize Amazon s selection & impact long-term business profitability Have deep insights into customer needs, both existing and potential, in womenswear fashion, and use that knowledge to deliver products that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience Coordinate across cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines, Bachelor s / PG - diploma/degree in Fashion Design from a Design institute /University Proficiency in design apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Draw etc Minimum 12 years of experience in the field of designing apparel with at least 5years of experience in leading design teams and managingproduct design of different womenswear categories for branded business. Prior experience in e-commerce and / or with independent retailers on theirprivate label businesses and / or with leading national and international brands. Worked across categories of womenswear in Ethnic,Western and Active space Ability to conceptualise design ideas based on market opportunities &customer needs and demands In depth understanding of technical aspects of product development patternmaking, fabrics, spec making, sizing, construction, etc. Ability to analyse and simplify data to set design brief for team members Trend analysis & forecasting abilities Ability to illustrate by hand or using design software Planning & developing product ranges - ability to work closely withvendors/manufacturers to create product proto-types based on the design plan Ability to Think Big, and Invent & Simplify Ability to think both strategically and tactically with strong attention to detail Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
