It may not be for every role, and, as part of the recruitment process, you ll have the chance to discuss smart working and how it might work for the job you are applying for.About this roleThis role is for a Software Engineering Manager with ~ 13-17 Years of relevant Experience with proven Track Record as a Technology Leader with min 5+ years in People, Technology and Stakeholder Management and GovernanceThe role is for E2E SDLC Governance and complete accountability of Development and Maintenance of multiple business critical Telco OSS/BSS Software Systems within the CPQ Domain ensuring Delivery Excellence by leading on Technology Transformation, Development ,DevOps and QA Automation as per S/W Engineering Best Practises as well as managing P&L for the account.Youll have the following responsibilities
    • As a Software Engineering Manager, you are responsible for the End to End Ownership right from Design through to Development and Testing until Delivery and Maintenance of multiple IT Software Systems
    • As a Line Manager, you are expected to manage mid to big sized Teams of 40-60 FTE s or more including various Contractors, Vendors and Partners across different organisations and verticals reporting to you
    • You are the Lead Techno Functional Expert with Pretty Hands-On Expertise in JAVA, Microservices and at least one or more Database Technologies (RDBMS - Oracle or NOSQL -MongoDB etc)
    • Knowledge on Native Cloud Technologies like AWS, Azure and/or GCP is additional advantage but not mandatory
    • Knowledge on Emerging Tech such as AI/ML/Data Analytics is desirable but not mandatory
    • You are always ready to learn and explore new Tech/Tooling aimed at delivering the best outcomes to the organisation and you promote the same learning culture within the Teams under you to always stay relevant with the changing trends in the Industry and as per Organisational needs
    • You will be expected to demonstrate best practices in driving Design Solutions, Review Code when required, Test and Deploy applications as well as leading on resolution of P1/P2 Show Stopper Incidents/Bugs in Production and get the Post Incident Review Documentation /RCA as well via various techniques such as Fish Bone Analysis , 5Y etc
    • You are a role model for the Team Members and Software Engineering Professionals under you with a responsibility to set a high bar for quality consistently.
    • As part of this responsibility you will provide regular Technical coaching and mentoring to junior Team members to ensure they are delivering to the expected standards and operating by the org guidelines and manifesto.
    • As a Technology enthusiast, you continuously evaluate areas of Technology, Process and Standards to identify improvement opportunities and areas of Optimisation and publish that to the wider teams for Compliance.
    • You are a key knowledge champion and seek every opportunity to share your experience across the department and Teams.
    • You will be required to represent your team in meetings with stakeholders, contributing to their strategy and direction.
    • You always keep up to date with the latest developments in the IT industry and apply industry best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation within BT in general and your account in specific.
    • You not only hire Top Talent from the Market but also control Attrition to ensure Top Talents are retained as well
    • You are expected to contribute actively towards BT communities in socializing any Learnings, Process Knowhow, Recommendations and Solutions for Complex Business Problems to be able to cascade that across areas for building Knowledge Base
    • You are able to motivate your Team Members so that they can always deliver up to the Expected Standards and perhaps exceed expectations
    • You have to set the Team Goals and Objectives and set them up for success and manage /own the Appraisal Process as well and help them towards building their career path
    • You have complete ownership of all the Organisational SLAs, KPI s and are the signing off authority for all Designs and Developments as well as Managing Costs and Budget for the Program
    • You can review estimates, work packages, Costs, Quality and ways of working of Partners and Vendors as a signing off Authority
    • You have complete knowledge on BT processes and practises and you always look at areas of improvement for further optimisation whether process or people
    • You are an Agile Expert as well, conversant with SAFE concepts and/or the Agile Manifesto and Agile Metrics
    • You are well conversant with RAID management
    • You have the ability to understand business aspects so as to think and analyse both functional and non-functional aspects while designing and implementing services/products. Proven track record of defining IT strategy/transformation roadmaps and taking team along on the journey by applying design thinking aspects.
    • You are supposed to give Strategic Direction to the teams with Short Term and Long-Term Goals and Vision for them to accomplish the objectives
    Youll have the following skills & experience
    • Strong experience in driving agile adoption with high focus on engineering & operations through CI/CD and Dev-sec-ops using Cloud capabilities/features.
    • Strong experience putting in place the quality gates in order to establish controls on change & demand management aspects
    • Experience building high performance & highly available enterprise scale applications catering to millions of daily traffic with 24 X 7 service stability/availability to end users/customers.
    • Very strong experience & proven track record of successfully managing projects/program with exceeding expectations set for quality and time
    • Strong experience managing vendors so to bring value on the table and drive cost/business transformation/efficiencies by implementing necessary KPIs
    • Experience of working in a highly regulated business environment considering data security/privacy (through GDPR) and technical solutions needed to be compliant
    • Experience in managing enterprise scale application modernization & migration to cloud based infrastructure without any disruption to the service.
    • Experience in handling, understanding complex E2E S/W Architecture and business requirements and Provide clarity to Wider Teams.
    • Capable to work in Agile environment with experience in reviewing architectural models and producing detailed and unambiguous design artefacts
    • Able to do Technical and Functional Code Reviews, walkthroughs and recommend simple and innovative solutions to complex business problems
    • In depth understanding of E2E SDLC used on large scale agile projects
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills so as to communicate and influence effectively
    • Experience in working with multi-functional Teams across geo and time zones
    • Always able to look at Delivery Optimisation ways via Automation and Engineering Transformation Initiatives
    Technical Skills Required: -
    • An Engineering Manager who understands Code and can get Hands On when required
    • You are expected to have Hands On Coding experience with at least One Full Stack Technology -JAVA , Microservices and Database Technologies such as Oracle Database -PL/SQL , MongoDB and your ready to get your hands on code when required
    • Expert knowledge of programming concepts including OOPS, TDDBDD, VirtualizationContainerization, API Gateways, REST, CI/CD etc
    • Expert knowledge of S/W Engineering WoW such as Agile ,SAFE 5.0 ,Hybrid, Waterfall and related Project Management Metrics of Cost ,Schedule and Quality
    • In Depth Experience with Cloud and On-Prem Infrastructure concepts
    • In depth knowledge of Atlassian Suite tools (Confluence and Jira) or similar toolset with Agile Ways of Working
    • Knowledge on Technology Transformation Projects and/or Program to migrate Legacy Monolithic Systems into Microservices, Cloud etc
    Qualification: -
    • B.E/B.Tech or Masters in Engineering or Equivalent from a Reputed Institute
    • Certifications in CSM, CSPO, PMP , ITIL and /or Prince 2 is/are added advantage but not essential
