This team also builds platforms that drives Engineering and Operations productivity. Our products drive the Walmart US ecommerce and stores business. Large distributed platforms built on technologies like Cassandra, Hadoop, spark, storm, Kafka, and elastic search. It scales to millions of transactions per hour and handles hundreds of millions of unique SKUSYour OpportunityDrive the next generation Catalog suite of products and platform and by architecting & designing, innovating POCs on latest cutting-edge technologies as well as contribute to building, deploying highly scalable and robust cloud based intelligent solutions.You will use your architectural and engineering experience to strategically drive/impact how millions of items are ingested, stored and served to the various consumers including Walmart.com.Implement cutting edge models and algorithms that operate on massive amounts of dataHelp and participate with the teams that leverage and contribute to open source technologiesStrategize & work with senior leaders within Enterprise Item and Inventory and across Walmart engineering Organization to make significant impact on a global scaleYour ResponsibilityStrategize long term vision, Architect & Design, contribute to build cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting multi-billion-dollar business.Interact with Walmart cross functional engineering teams as cloud, platform, analytics etc. across geographies to leverage technical expertise and contribute to the engineering community.As Distinguished Engineer you would be working as an Individual Contributor.Engage with engineering teams in Sunnyvale, Benton Ville and work with team of architects to evolve the long term architectural vision, make it pure multi-tenant, global and cloud ready.Understand business problems and suggest technology solutionsDrive Proof of Concept (POC) and Proof of Technology (POT) evaluationsLead engineering efforts from rapid prototypes to large-scale applications using variety of languages and tools/technology stacks.Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate with business, product, engineering and management across different geographic locationsGuide and mentor other architects to foster highly technical and technology excellence cultureYour Qualifications:Bachelors/Masters Degree with 15+. of experience in Computer Science or related fieldStrong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, data stores, operating systems, etc.Prior proven experience with Java, Multithreading, Data Structures, Algorithm, Design Patterns and resilient high-performance and scalable applicationsAbility to influence cross functional engineering leaders/architects in a collaborative and productive mannerHands on in Architecting and developing large scale Core Java applicationsExperience in Cloud Native systems, Transactional Systems, Multi-Tenancy and five-nines availabilityGood expertise in REST, Messaging (KAFKA, RABBITMQ, etc.), stream processing (SPARK, STORM etc.), NoSQL as well as database Systems (RDBMS, NO SQL Stores like Cassandra, HBase, Mongo,memcache etc.)Extremely strong technical background with the capability of being hands-on if required and earn the respect and ability to mentor top individual technical talent.Knowledge of retail/ecomm/Supply Chain Domain is preferableOur Ideal CandidateYou have a deep interest and passion for technology.
