Job Description

Summary A successful candidate will be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking of English and Japanese at an N3 level or above. This person will be responsible for translation tasks from English to Japanese and Japanese to English. Must be able to recreate documents accurately within translation rate timing guidelines. This position will require being able to comprehend orally presented projects and meeting conversations spoken at a natural rate. The position will need to work proactively with Sony teams to assist in prioritizing translation work to ensure timely flow of information. Responsibilities:

  • Translate communications to include but not limited to email, written documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Produce accurate recreations of communications into the requested language.
  • Assist Sony Teams with onsite summary reading of documents when requested
  • Attending meetings as needed for translation purposes.
  • Ability to work with various Sony Global teams as needed. The ideal individual for this position will be very customer oriented and able to work with diverse groups easily.
  • Negotiate a due date with Sony Teams according to our current work volume and available resources.
  • Prioritize translation requests to ensure the most urgent requests are completed promptly.
  • Be able to translate documents at a base rate of 600 words per hour with a goal of 800 words per hour.
  • Translating Japanese in written (70%) and verbal (30%) form.
Qualifications:
  • 6 to 8 years working experience in translating English to Japanese and Japanese to English.
  • Japanese language ability especially reading and writing (Japanese Language-Proficiency Test N3 or above) or work experience using Japanese.
  • Ability to work proactively with team members who are located remotely.
  • Basic understanding basic office applications such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook.
  • General knowledge of networking, information security/technology, or a general technical background is encouraged.
  • Flexibility in work hours when needed.
