Experience Design Director

Role Overview:Exciting opportunity to join the Emergency Care team as Experience Design Director to Lead Global EC Design team and collaborate within a global team that designs and develops basic life support solutions (e.g. AED) and advanced life support solutions (e.g. patient monitor, defibrillator).Key Responsibilities:- Lead and mentor a team of approximately 15 design professionals across China, USA, UK, and India.- Work closely with R&D, Product Management, and Clinical teams to ensure best-in-class usability and innovation.- Lead Design solutions for NPI development and lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with market needs and sustainability goals.- Oversee FDA submissions and approvals for NPIs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.- Lead User FMEA initiatives to optimize product safety and usability.Qualification Required:- Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree from an accredited school in engineering / technical discipline and ideally a postgraduate degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Human Factors Engineering / HCI / Cognitive science / Product / Interaction or other relevant academic background.- 15 years in product design and development with 5 years experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team developing medical devices.- Proven expertise in UI/UX design, including designing consumer and professional software, improving design processes, and driving large-scale design initiatives.- Experience creating and managing scalable design systems, including strategies for adoption and migration in complex business settings.- Knowledge and understanding of regulation requirements for usability of medical devices, FDA guidance, IEC62366-1, experience in the healthcare domain and clinical workflows.- Business acumen with a clear understanding of how design impacts business objectives, focusing on driving measurable results.- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, especially in matrixed organizations, to engage with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders effectively.
