Job Description

What will you contribute Support, administer and maintain and enhance the SQL Server database environments; Participate in On-Call escalations, responding to incidents as SME, and assisting to provide resolutions and RCA s; Create new database environments (Non-PROD/Production/DR) to support development and product progression; Responsible for project work, enhancement services and tuning, you will periodically work with Development, and provide guidance on DBA best-practices; Install, configure and manage MSSQL clusters. Patch and upgrade databases.Responsibilities & Deliverables:

  • Your deliverable will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Responsible for solution designs and documentation for projects
  • Support ON CALL rotation 24x7
  • Responsible for performance tuning.
  • Create & manage/administer/maintain monitoring tools like Diagnostic Manager for SQL Server by IDERA, and or Microsoft Azure s OMS.
  • Responsible for enhancement or solution designs, documentation and/or training team members on new technologies
  • Responsible for configuration and implementation of databases backups. Configure, setup, maintain database security and auditing. Disaster Recovery planning and implementation
Required Experience:
  • Must have 7 years of experience managing large and/or complex OLTP and warehouse databases using MSSQL 2012 to SQL 2016/SQL 2017
  • Must have 3 years of experience in setting up and managing MSSQL in Azure Azure (and Azure Portal), IaaS, PaaS
  • Have extensive hands on experience with PowerShell experience
  • Must have hands on experience and sound knowledge in cloud technologies and SQL architecture/HADR setups
  • Extensive experience in monitoring (using DMV), tuning, and securing MSSQL databases
  • Expertise in designing, managing and tuning OLTP / DW databases
  • Experience MSSQL Clusters, Database Mirroring, Transaction Log shipping, Replication, Always On and stretch clusters
  • Expertise in SQL / T-SQL development and tuning
  • Expertise in operational and incident management/resolution
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Strong architecture and infrastructure design for MSSQL databases and ability to set and implement standards
Preference given to
  • Expertise in PowerShell, IAC, VSTS
  • Azure experience with IaaS, PaaS and OMS
  • ITIL v3
Education and Soft skills:
  • University degree/College diploma in computer science or a related field of study.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and, diagnose and resolve complex database issues
  • Self-motivated individual who enjoys technical challenges and takes pride in delivering high quality work
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced, results oriented environment
  • Strong business/technology decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively influence decisions and positively impact progress
  • Ability to work with a global team, yet work independently
