Job Description

Job title : Firmware Principal EngineerDell Overview:Dell creates technology solutions for a changing world. Our expertise includes integrating hardware, processes, methodologies and software into the customer environment.About Business Unit:Dell IDrac team an embedded system management hardware and software solution to manage: Multiple servers, Networking, Storage. It provides a secure browser-based interface that enables an IT administrator to take inventory, perform configuration and monitoring tasks, remotely power on/off blade servers and enable alerts for events on servers and components in the blade chassisResponsibilities

  • Closely work with multiple systems management console application teams which are integrated with iDRAC.
  • Analyze, debug and resolve integration issues and design discrepancies reported by consoles.
  • After initial assessment and analysis, work with iDRAC subcomponent teams to drive issue resolution.
  • Responsible to review iDRAC FW changes and assess the impact on console applications. Proactively communicate consoles teams on impact assessment / FW changes.
  • Responsible to notify console teams about any iDRAC FW change that may have an impact on them.
  • Responsible to update and publish documents like best practice guide, Attribute Registry files, EEMI modification history etc.
  • Responsible to initiate process changes in order to ensure consoles integration with iDRAC is happening smoothly and efficiently.
  • Should be able to develop reference applications, scripts etc. as needed
Qualification Requirements:
  • A BE/ME degree in ECE, CE, CS with 10+ years of industry experience in firmware/software development.
  • Solid understanding of System Management firmware/software solutions.
  • Strong firmware / System development background with strong C/C++ development/debug skills
  • Strong in Embedded Linux programming, OS Internals, IPC, thread programming and embedded application firmware/software development.
  • Proficient in software development tools such as IDEs, compilers, debuggers, emulators, source control system and defect/ bug tracking systems.
  • Prior work experience as a lead dealing with cross functional teams, vendors, open sources and standards.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Work experience / solid understanding of WSMAN, Redfish, SNMP, IPMI protocols.
  • Experience/exposure to I2C, MCTP protocol is a plus.
