The Amazon Softlines team is looking for a talented, smart, experienced and entrepreneurial and highly motivated Design Lead to help us build a truly exceptional private brands for womenswear fashion business.Joining the Amazon Softlines team means partnering with a dynamic and creative group that sets a high bar for innovation and success in a fast-paced and changing environment. The incumbent will be responsible for setting the design direction, creation and product development of Footwear and Accessories for all Private Brands owned by Amazon. S/he would build relationships with vendors/manufacturers, driving incremental selection in footwear and accessories and work with stakeholder teams to deliver a best-in-class customer experience that will result in category leadership in the online market segment.We expect the designer to be a passionate customer and category advocate within Amazon, with proven design & product development capabilities, project management skills, extreme attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritise and multi-task. The candidate must be able to partner with vendors, as well as with internal cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for product design and have a deep understanding of industry trends and demonstrate a high level of ownership and customer obsession.The designer must be able to: Act as the business owner for his / her categories, possessing an understanding of internal and external variables that impact our business (this entails owning trend forecasting, understanding market gaps, opportunities & competition, along with a thorough understanding all technical aspects of product development in the assigned category/categories) Have a thorough understanding of the industry, seasonality and global trends / events, and must continually monitor competitor/industry developments Have deep insights into customer needs, both existing and potential, in non apparel fashion, and use that knowledge to deliver products that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience Coordinate and communicate with internal and external parties, while meeting tight deadlines, Design graduate from NIFT / NID / FDDI with 6-10 years of experience in designing footwear and accessories for domestic or international brands. Ability to conceptualise design ideas based on market opportunities / customer needs and demands In depth understanding of technical aspects of footwear product development: Aesthetics, Material, Quality and Construction Ability to analyse and simplify data to set design brief for team members Trend analysis & forecasting abilities with strong attention to detail Ability to illustrate by hand or using design software Planning & developing product ranges - ability to work closely with vendors/manufacturers to create product prototypes based on the design plan Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
