You want to join a growing team who collaborates closely with colleagues across the business to achieve security goals together.What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for We re looking for someone who can help us discover, implement, and operationalize the latest security capabilities, as well as help us design new capabilities with our existing tools. You will need to review and understand threat intelligence in order to prioritize and drive our use case development and monitoring strategy in order to reduce attacker dwell time. You ll need hands-on experience with the latest security products, as well as the ability to communicate what works well, and what needs improvement.Success in Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing Working with our Security Engineering team, review detection capabilities for existing security tools and close visibility gaps against common attacker techniques.Review and improve existing use case development processes, and collaborate with the team to reduce the time to deliver a use case by at least one week.Review current service catalog and provide recommendations on preventative capabilities in order to reduce SOC workload by 25%What type of work will you be doing What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing regularly Most of your time will be spent working in our security tools and executing our use case development processes in order to create high quality SEIM alerting for the Security Operations Center. You can expect to be the owner and take accountability for the quality of aleting generated from our security tools.Collaborate in-person, over slack, or through email with the security operations team in order to brainstorm and implement improvements to our detection signatures.Spend your time learning VMware s processes, standards, and guidelines. We re looking for someone who can find opportunities to improve process, and drive those improvements across our teams.Build and develop metrics and reporting to define the success of our prevention and detection controls. You ll use these metrics to prioritize use case development.Review products (threat briefings, intelligence reports, and incident reports) from our Security Intelligence and Response team in order to identify opportunities for proactive security moniotoring with our security products.Communicate your products to leadershipWhat is leadership like for this role What is the structure and culture of the team This role reports to the Manager, Detection Content Management for VMware Threat Management.
