Bachelors degree in User Interface Design, Human Factors or Cognitive Science, or equivalent on-the-job experience.

About the Role:

We are seeking an Interaction Designer to help drive innovation and make an impact within the world of health.

As an Interaction Designer, you will be highly collaborative with all members of your agile team, especially with the product owner, human factors engineer, development leads, and fellow design team members. You can handle with ease at least three different workstreams in tandem while being able to deliver on-time with the highest quality.

You perform tasks independently and can generate a multitude of unique concepts with some input from other designers. You can clearly articulate the design rationale and understand the need to compromise at times. You understand the needs and pains of the end user groups which are comprised of pharmacists (clinical and informatics) of varying levels.

First-year objectives

Work with your project team and UXD lead to integrate new features into the current sprint releases. Develop a working knowledge of BD s Unified Design Standards and how they re applied across product lines. Form a trusted relationship with the product owner and the development leader(s). Maintain an Axure prototype (when needed) for usability testing and feature releases. Create a test plan and screener, on at least one usability test, card sort or ethnographic observation with internal users/SMEs, leveraging existing templates and processes. Generate proposed future functionality workflows which tie back to product roadmaps.

The organizational structure

You will report to the Associate Director of TCI as well as accountable to global stake holders of User Experience, as well as overseen by the Director of User Experience in the Software Technology Solutions group within Medication Management Solutions. You will partner daily with the lead interaction designer, product owner, development leads, quality engineers, clinical SMEs and human factors engineers.

  • Mac proficient or PC proficient with demonstrated efficiency in the following applications: Axure RP 9, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office 365 Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, OneDrive.

  • Activities / Deliverables

  • Wireframes, Workflows, Site maps, Information architecture, Taxonomy, Low fidelity design ideas, High fidelity interactive prototypes, Heuristic evaluation or UI audit, Product demos, Visualizations, Interaction design rules, Product guidelines, Specifications, Creating artifacts for usability tests, Card sorting, Content and error messaging writing, Communicating design rationale, and Visual design skills. (a plus, not required)

  • Soft Skills

  • Collaborative Create trust and gain respect from the product team leads. Use concise and strong communication, do not speak in circles. You are open-minded and stay curious about the possibilities.

  • Confident - be able to communicate the reason and thinking behind a design pattern and design decisions. Act decisively and independently, knowing when to ask for help, and when to be your own critic.
