Job Description

IT Engineer Lead to work as a senior member of Engineering IT supporting Qualcomms Global Operations team for Engineering IT . Work with other leads in the team to ensure the metrics, escalations and gaps in each tower are being addressed in a time bound fashion. Leads technical discussions to ensure team projects ( onboardings ) are delivered on time. Identifies resources , delegates work , monitors the task given to the team members ensuring the task priorities are managed in a timely manner. This candidate should ensure the Code Configuration and Design supporting members in the GOEngIT team follow process adherence and skill capability to extend Tier1, Tier2 support for the Clearcase, Clearquest, Perforce, Git, Gerritt applications Should be able to work as incident commander for the Global Operations for Engineering IT team, leading the major incident calls , ensuring the end users and IT management is updated on the status and resolution . Helps drive process improvement projects within the team. The candidate will act as a subject matter expert in one or more IT technologies, and manage escalations from the engineering user community. The ideal candidate will have a solid IT background in an enterprise environment, strong analytic & troubleshooting skills, and multitasking and organizational skills. This position supports a highly technical hardware, software & systems engineering community and requires strong communication skills, both at a very technical level as well as the ability to present to senior management. In addition, the candidate must value customer service. Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively. A strong background in system administration for both LINUX and applications such as VMware and virtualization is critical to success, along with broad and deep knowledge of compute, server, storage, and networking solutions. The role will include collaboration with global IT operations teams to provide effective IT support for the Engineering community. Interrupt driven (sometimes urgent) tasks are to be expected within this exciting role. You will establish collaborative partnerships within IT teams, and balance standard Qualcomm IT solutions. All Qualcomm employees are expected to actively support diversity on their teams, and in the Company. Minimum Qualifications 8-10 years of experience supporting Unix, Linux environment and fairly good experience in VMware and virtualization is critical . TCP/IP and other networking concepts would be a plus. Must be a self-starter, team player Excellent troubleshooting skills and customer support experience Customer Service oriented and thrive in a dynamic environment . Excellent oral and written communication skills Solid understanding of Linux and Unix OS and product development lifecycle management tools such as Clearcase, ClearQuest, perforce, Git , Geritt 8-10 years of experience supporting Unix, Linux environment and fairly good experience in VMware and virtualization is critical . TCP/IP and other networking concepts would be a plus. Must be a self-starter, team player Excellent troubleshooting skills and customer support experience Customer Service oriented and thrive in a dynamic environment . Preferred Qualifications Experience in any of Git , Gerrit , Perforce, Electric Commander technology is required . EDA industry related experience would be a plus Should have basic understanding and overview of the server , storage, network environment .
