Job Description

    We are looking for an experienced Team Manager for the Batch Monitoring team in Mainframe Services.Team manager for mainframe batch operations is responsible to operate and run on bank mainframe batch to ensure service availability 24/7. The position holder to deliver continuous availability of critical services dependent on batch(example clearing, book keeping etc) with the help of 24/7 monitoring team.Bank business is highly reliant on the mainframe platform - it is a core global IT asset - many critical customer facing services, key regulatory reporting and financial risk systems, critical banking applications are dependent on mainframe infrastructure.Managing mainframe batch operations requires keen focus towards customer service availability, with a continual focus on building and iterating towards high performing teams. There is also a requirement to show career path to make them talent feeders to the rest of the organization.Mainframe operations coversBatch Monitoring: providing 24/7 monitoring and Level 1 support for mainframe batch jobs, including the business-critical services.Change implementation: Implementing planned changes raised by developers across the bank. This involves, liaising with the change owners to understand the change plan, executing the change within the scheduled window time and co-ordination with the requestor for post implementation checkouts, raise alarm in case of issues with the change. Educate / empower the team for performing emergency changes, break/fix.Incident management: Keep a strict vigil on all incidents and tracking it to closure. Ensure adequate staffing for all major severity issues (mainframe and non-mainframe related) and decide on escalation to next level teams.Documentation: Ensure repetitive process / procedures are agreed and documented with a periodic reviewBuild team capability, look for automation of repetitive tasks, noise reduction which would free up time/ capacity to shift left high value work from batch planning team. Key qualificationsExtensive management career within IT Mainframe Operations and/or IT Delivery (preferably both)Operational experience managing an IT Delivery Organization covering all elements of IT Delivery, including day-to-day operation and strategic developmentExperience with installation, maintenance and operations of large scale, business critical IT solutionsProven ability to interact with senior leadership and affect othersProject and program management experience in driving Transformation Programsmeet the challenging standards of the Bank and enable the delivery of business imperativesensure the long-term viability of the mainframe batch operations and the people required to support it, in line with the vision and values of the organizationmaintain the currency and value of a legacy platform in the modern worldBesides being an active part of Mainframe services Leadership Team, the lead of mainframe batch operations should have an aspiration to drive incident management and initiatives for service availability improvements.InnovationIt is important to look for additional improvement opportunities in collaboration with batch planners. This would ensure higher value of work being delivered from 24/7 team thereby ensuring a. More time availability to batch planners for them to take up more challenging work. b.
