Job Description

Job Profile: Lead - Instructional Design Total Experience: 7-10 years Relevant Experience: 7-10 yearsSkills Evaluation:

  • Skills Test: Chunking and Structuring, Content Writing, Storyboarding, Visualization Design Documents, Reviewing, Client Interaction (Production), Client Interaction (Solutioning), Scoping and Estimation
  • Interview: Communication, Articulation, Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, HTML5, Custom WBTs, ILTs and VILTs/VCTs, Production Team Coordination, Client Interaction (Production), Client Interaction (Solutioning), Scoping and Estimation, Proposal Writing.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage instructional design teams for design and production tasks; plan, monitor, and track ID tasks while keeping deliverables on schedule and within design and quality parameters (2-3 years). Ideate and create engaging, instructionally sound, and learner-centered solutions for instructional design projects by understanding the learning requirement, budget, and shared content; recommend solutions across learning formats, tools, and technologies; visual design input to assist IDs and GDs when designing and developing learning solutions. (2-3 years). Review and enhance course outlines, high and low design documents, scripts, storyboards, course output, and media files across various domains, industries, and learning formats; implement client standards, create checklists, build efficiencies in review process (4-5 years). Communicate and coordinate with the following teams and provide them with relevant inputs:
  • Team Members: Communicate work plans, feedback, timelines, project requirements, client expectations, and design approaches/solutions.
  • Project Managers: Provide task time estimates and task status; communicate need for resources/infrastructure, create and update project guidelines.
  • Practice Managers: Communicate need for support for team development and projects
  • Peers: Assist in content review and storyboarding tasks, provide peer reviews for language and quality checks
  • Graphics and Programming Teams: Collaborate and brainstorm on visual and interactive strategies to represent content; clarify questions to explain storyboards; assist in reviews and quality control of developed products
  • Client Stakeholders: Adopt consultative design approaches, engage in pre-sales interactions, ask questions to clarify content gaps, assist in walkthroughs of deliverables, provide design rationale when required to explain adopted instructional strategy
  • Coach and mentor team members in all aspects of instructional design including creating course structures, high- and low-level design documents, scripts, storyboards, templates, and assessments and in soft skills including process adherence, stakeholder communication, accountability, time management, and collaboration (2-3 years).
Skills Manage:
  • Create component breakdown for ID tasks
  • Manage 5 or more team members
  • Create and implement project standards, processes, and templates
  • Have cross-functional understanding (PD and GD)
  • Ideation and Solution Creation
  • Highly proficient in reading and reviewing content across various disciplines
  • Ability to review large quantities of content quickly using skim/scan techniques

  • Awareness of industry standards and generational expectations for eLearning.
  • Ability to suggest solutions that maximize time and budget on projects (across learning formats, tools, and technologies) while still ideating an engaging and learner-centered design.
  • Deriving client requirements from RFPs and drafting appropriate design approaches for proposals.
  • Ability to comprehend content, visualize it conceptually, and collaborate with GDs for appropriate visual representation when needed.
  • Compile a task breakdown and budget of the efforts required to deliver the solution.
Review and Enhancement:
  • Highly proficient at reviewing content, instructional design and graphic design assets, and developed courses across various disciplines
  • Expertise in providing clear constructive feedback to team members for improving file quality and meeting learner needs.
  • Ability to ideate new approaches to content treatment while reviewing.
  • Eye for detail to spot missing content, typos and grammar errors, project guideline adherence, and consistency in design
  • Ability to work with client standards and implement them consistently
  • Ability to capture project needs in review checklists to ensure consistent implementation
Language and Grammar:
  • Thorough grasp of the English language with advanced level vocabulary and grammar
  • Reading comprehension skills applicable across different types of topics and domains
  • Ability to write error-free copy at various levels of English complexity
  • Ability to write to standards and specifications including geographical and cultural considerations and client-specific jargon and formatting
  • Ability to condense information and summarize in a succinct format without losing the original meaning
Communication and Coordination:
  • Fluent and relatively unaccented verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to understand accents across geographies and communicate with client teams in a coherent manner
  • Maturity to understand process and situation and respond appropriately to client questions
  • Ability to simplify language and clarify content to graphics and programming teams
Coach and Mentor:
  • Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback to team members for skill development.
  • Ability to evaluate team members and their deliverables to pinpoint areas for improvement.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback, model the expectations to the team and provide the scaffolding needed for team members to learn and improve.
  • Experience in creating development plans for technical and soft skills with SMART goals and milestones.
  • Ability to track and communicate team members developmental progress.
Process and Technology:
  • Attention to detail and compliance with standards and checklists for all deliverables
  • Openness to learn new processes and technology as required for new clients
  • Ability to work with various cross-functional teams in a seamless manner, while keeping in mind corresponding templates and processes
Education and Certification:
  • Any (Mass Communication / English Literature / Journalism / Psychology / Education/ Similar)
  • Any formal training in writing or design would be a bonus
  • Any experience and/or certification in instructional design is highly desired
  • Knowledge of or experience with content authoring and/or web media creation tools is a bonus
