*As a Logistics Planning Manager at Caterpillar, you will define, acquire and install physical assets and processes to distribute client product efficiently and effectively with optimized capital investment; and represents and sells Caterpillar expertise in Logistics Engineering and Distribution Services.Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:* Manages Cat Logistics facility design, facility layout, equipment purchases and installation in the Americas and the Far East * Oversees the facility startup process and serves as a consultant to facility managers to assist with implementation of startup model * Serves as process owner of the startup model and updates model with best practices and improvements * Updates executives on application of best practices * Manages purchasing of indirect material and capital items within corporate guidelines and manages relationship with Corporate purchasing, Parts & Service Support (P&SS) Purchasing and outside service providers * Provides operational input for the costing of new deals * Establishes productivity, operating cost and space requirements that commit the company to provide services to new clients at fixed fees in the Americas and the Far East * Supports the large deals in Europe on a request basis * Tracks capital for Cat Logistics worldwide * Supports existing facilities through guidance of rearrangement team, managing goal of improving cube utilization and reduced travel time * Manages expansions, moves and reworks and projects involving capital investments and process changes at Cat Logistics facilities * Establishes guiding principles through benchmarking, involvement in outside organizations and internal research * Establishes standard operating practices for warehouse processes, process control, facility layout, facility design and inventory concepting and locating which are used in the Americas and are available to the Far East and Europe * Manages relationship with suppliers and establishes guidelines and implements supplier certification program * Monitors Cat Logistics Excellence program, establishes objectives across facilities and manages the Excellence award process * Manages Cat Logistics ISO 9000 and QS9000 certification process * Monitors and enhances Facility Operations Report * Manages a work unit of primarily management/professional employees where some review of subordinate work is required as well as training, developing and mentoring * Responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates, *Required Qualifications:* Thorough understanding of company policies and procedures as well as thorough product knowledge * Background in inventory management and control, purchasing, parts distribution * May require traffic/transportation knowledge * College or university degree or equivalent experience * 3 to 5 years of job-related experience * Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others insideDesired Qualifications:* Strong analytical skillsCaterpillar is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO)EEO/AA Employer.
