Job Description

Job Summary:

Summary:

Nuance communications Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Manager to manage and grow the Bangalore India data team. The successful candidate will have hands - on experience managing people and projects/tasks to deliver on time with high quality, and strong skills coordinating and communicating requirements and results with remote managers and stakeholders.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage team to success and growth, assigning responsibilities and providing clear direction, guidance, and feedback on progress and quality of work. Hire new team members and get them up to speed.
  • Work with stakeholders and management to set delivery and quality goals for data.
  • Proactively manage team deliverables and goals, staying up to date on all team plans, activities, progress, and status. Drive the team to achieve desired results and quality deliverables, and to continuously improve operations.
  • Lead and be responsible for team to discover and address data quality issues, to fill data gaps for text content data, and to report on status. Identify operational strengths/weaknesses; and assess and make needed changes accordingly.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with North America management and stakeholders regarding goals, requirements, and status; communicate with external vendors regarding data deliveries and status.

Knowledge, skills and qualifications

Education: Minimum of BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.

Minimum years of work experience: 5+

  • 2+ years managing technical team
  • 4+ years in technical industry

Required skills:

  • People management and leadership skills including team building and motivation, collaboration, goal setting, performance evaluation and feedback
  • Experience working with data and/or managing data - related projects; familiarity with source control and sprint management tools
  • Ability to translate requirements into specific short term actions and schedules to achieve goals; regular tracking and reporting on status of activities, and deliverables
  • Ability to work proactively, collaboratively, and independently, and to foster that ability within the team, including with remote international staff
  • Clear concise verbal and written communication, including status and quality reporting and documentation

Preferred skills:

  • Familiarity with process monitoring and reporting via dashboards
  • Experience in big data engineering, text data parsing and encoding, or data mining
  • Some Python scripting and Linux tools skills
