We like forward thinkers, open-source proponents and technology buffs who have a pragmatic approach to delivering high quality software.Job DescriptionThe Manager, Software Development will work with the Director of Technical Practices, Product owners, Scrum Masters to plan, direct, and coordinate all activities related to developing software programs and the managing of people related to HR activities.Expectations and Responsibilities:
• Build strong relationships with the application development teams specifically with technical team members to develop a shared vision and execution for application event management
• Be involved in all aspects of the application development and delivery
• A passion for software development with a strong desire for continuous improvement
• Perform under minimal supervision
• Collaborate with internal teams around technical task identification along with work estimates and skills required to assist project managers with task scheduling and resource requests
• Adhere to and drive enterprise standards and best practices
• Mentoring to the team to ensure an integrated, seamless architecture. Coach and mentor team members to increase their understanding of and place within overall enterprise architecture design
• Drive a DevOps culture change and implementation of development best practices
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Facilitate employee development and career growth for direct reports
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a technically related field or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of management/leadership experience in software development/operations
• Experience with continuous integration and delivery and automation practices and tools (we use Jenkins, Rundeck and Chef)
• Scripting knowledge (Python, Groovy, Ruby, XSLT, ksh, bash, )
• Ability to demonstrate and lead others in sound software development practices and techniques
• Ability to work within a cross functional agile team to develop, design and architect solutions in a highly iterative fashion. Involves close collaboration with product owners, architects and developers
• Experience with continuous integration, application deployment, and operations automation is a plus
• Polished communication skills, broad technical knowledge, and high self-confidence
• Excellent listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Experience with Agile methodologies
• Experience with DevOps a plus
