Job Description

Position: Mechanical Technical Lead Engineer Eligibility Criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech (Mechanical Engineering)
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 6-years of relevant experience
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Concept design and development of complex mechanical systems for semiconductor processing equipment
  • Define and develop engineering requirement specifications for complex sub-systems
  • Define project schedule, work breakdown structure and milestones to drive concept to production lifecycle
  • Develop multiple solution paths, and objectively down-select to several technically promising alternatives based on sound reasoning, using concept selection matrices
  • Optimize designs to address Reliability, Cost, Manufacturing and Performance issues using structured problem solving
  • Selection of OEM components and materials & Follow GD&T and do tolerance analysis for complex systems
  • Collaborate with counterparts in Lam India and Lam US to obtain requirements and validate design
  • Work closely with vendors and manufacturing engineers to ensure products are designed for manufacturability, cost, assembly and serviceability (DFx)
  • Conduct Design reviews to get buy-in from all cross functional teams
  • Review complex engineering drawings & BOMs and release through Engineering Change Management
  • Define test procedures, and participate in assembly, build and test verification
  • Provide immediate response and timely resolution to design related supplier/build issues
  • Provide resolution to complex Problem Reports and drive RCCA s
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and NCG s
  • Drive standards & BKM development and knowledge sharing
  • Develop and engage in hands-on learning in the hardware lab
Mandatory Skills Required to Perform the Job:
  • Proficiency in design, product development and integration of complex mechanical sub-systems such as structural frames / fluid delivery systems / high temperature applications / vacuum chambers, etc.
  • Proficiency in complex analytical calculations for structural, pressure, flow & thermal engineering problems
  • Proficiency in using tools such as FMEA and DFX (cost, manufacturability, assembly, serviceability)
  • Proficiency in design, manufacturing, assembly and testing of sheet-metal, machined metal and welded components
  • Proficiency in Structured Problem-Solving techniques (RCCA / 8D / 5Why / Fishbone)
  • Proficiency in converting high level customer requirements into engineering functional specifications
  • Proficiency in selection of OEM (off the shelf) components such as micro-fittings, valves, sensors, fasteners, electro-mechanical parts, etc.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding and creating Mechanical Drawings & Specifications
  • Proficiency in 3D Modelling, Assembly and Detailing using Creo or any CAD packages & PLM, PDM
  • Proficiency in GD&T, tolerance stack up analysis and interference calculations
  • Proficiency in trouble-shooting at the component level
  • Proficiency in managing full lifecycle projects (Product development and Project management)
  • Knowledge of engineering standards (ASME, ISO, ASTM, etc.)
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of reading Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID)
  • Knowledge of ceramic and plastic components
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing technologies
  • Knowledge of structural/thermal/flow analysis using FEA/CFD softwares (Pro-Mechanica, Nastran)
  • Knowledge of Value engineering and should-costing
  • Knowledge of Engineering Change Management Process
  • Knowledge of Semiconductor equipment, sub-systems and standards
