Joining VMware gives you long-term opportunities to expand your skills with annual education and/or training reimbursements, job rotation programs, subscriptions to online training platforms, and employee networking groups.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing Within 30 days, become conversant with software development life cycle at VMware.Within 60 days, get accustomed to current product architecture, design, and performance as well as start adding features by collaborating with your peers.Within 180 days, work independently towards solutions for identified features for the NSX Controller and developing expertise in areas you choose.You will work collaboratively with others in the team and help grow other team members.You will have the opportunity to develop SaaS micro-services in the VMware Cloud platform to enable & provide the next generation connectivity and security features by interacting with various stakeholders.Occasionally, you will research innovative technologies, implement proof of concept, and share your learnings with the team.The Work: What type of work will you be doing What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis In this role, you will:Work on NSX Controller - the industry-leading SDN controller offered by VMware. Develop multi-cloud networking connectivity and security features for NSX.Develop reliable software using Java/Golang/Python.Core java, common Java library (Guava, etc), gRpc, etc.Design and develop high scale distributed system.You will use Jira to track your work, Confluence for documentation, Gerrit for code reviews, Slack for a-sync communication, and many other tools that you may already have experience with or can easily pick up.Design and develop by adapting to customer feedback and handling issues found in unit testing, system testing and customer deployments.The technical experience in your background which may help your success in this new role include:Masters or Bachelors degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience in software development using Java, GO, Python, REST APIsStrong analytical, debugging and troubleshooting skillsExperience building scalable distributed systemsGood understanding of Docker containers, K8s clusters/pods is a plus.What is the leadership like for this role What is the structure and culture of the team like This role will be reporting to the Senior Manager, R&D, who is leading the NSX Controller from Bengaluru, India. The team is distributed across Palo Alto, California and Bangalore, India and other places in North America and it is a mix of members with varied experience level.The leader for this distributed team is located at Palo Alto, CA.
