Job Description

  • This role is for a leader for the team of MLO engineers, who are currently working to complete the Class 3 Master Lay Outs for all of our key products. Master Lay Outs are digital representations of our products that are accurate in 3-space, and the foundation of the 5 year roadmap to digitize our NPI
  • This is an existing high performing team that is delivering great performance, and meeting intermediate milestones. The program to complete MLO for identified products is progressing to plan and is just over 60% complete. AS we near completion, it becomes increasingly important to lead the organization to utilize the MLO in the best way possible. This will require this leader to learn the nuances of Bills of Material, develop BKMs for the design engineering community, identify control processes to preserve the sanctity of the MLO, as well as develop the right tools, systems and processes that will allow the maximum benefit of having an MLO
  • As a people manager the leader will be expected to provide supportive leadership for a team of employees and associates, and develop technical and function experts that will lead the company
  • As a functional leader, the leader will also be expected to develop strong relationship with internal and external parties (such as other corporations and universities) to ensure that we remain connected to the latest developments in connected fields, have touchpoints with thought leaders, and have access to the relevant talent ecosystem
Skills, Knowledge, Experience & Education:
  • Specific technical/functional skills required for the role; could also be skills required to be a people manager
  • Integration of education, experience and skills and knowing what to do as a result of this integration
  • Firsthand knowledge of what will work and how it can be applied based on past experience
  • Educational requirements needed to do the work (Some roles may require specific formal training)
  • Technical Skills
  • Managing delivery (time, budget and scope), for complex development programs with multiple distinct stakeholders and customers
  • Fluent use of engineering tools to view and manipulate 3D models, drawings, BOM, and change orders (e.g. UG/TC/Core)
  • Understanding of process improvement methods (how & why they work); typically included in the suite of 6Sigma methods
Functional Skills
  • Providing leadership to individuals at different levels of capability & confidence (e.g. choosing to be directive versus delegating)
  • Supervising a large team of employees and associates for their performance, and coaching them in their development
  • Identifying and betting on key talent and managing poor performance on a case by case basis
  • Developing & executing projects and tasks (e.g. daily operating rhythms, metrics that matter, keeping people accountable etc)
  • Strengthening engagement and culture for a large diverse group (~100 people) e.g. using symbols, stories, rewards
Knowledge
  • Familiarity with engineering tools and how they are used to develop, document, catalog/market, and manufacture products
  • India ecosystem for talent and semiconductor materials (e.g. companies, universities, local suppliers etc)
Education & Experience
  • Graduate degree in Engineering (any field) or Management required, Coursework in Finance, Change Management, Project Management, preferred
  • Strong program and project management experience required, demonstrating ability to handle multiple customers/priorities and 50 parallel tasks
  • Experience with product development frameworks, experience with early stage product development, highly configurable products necessary
  • Experience with Applied Materials products, PDP, PLM and ERP tools strongly preferred
Time Span
  • Developing and planning to a 5 year vision for mfg operations and new product introduction
  • Outlining a picture of how products will be designed 5 years from now, and developing a roadmap to get there
  • Budgeting and planning around an annual operating plan
  • Providing regional input for annual and long range planning for 3 matrixed functions
Interactions
  • Interacting and influencing engineering leaders in all SPG BU
  • Working with Internal (e.g. IT) and external (e.g. Companies) partners to understand state of technology, and how we use it
  • Ensuring that the MLO strategy remains tightly integrated NPI 3 year vision & Digitization strategy, AND the SPG Eng direction
  • Presenting direction, progress and securing sponsorship from GM-1 level executives
  • Relationships with talent partners and their managing their operating performance
