Job Description

*GLOBALFOUNDRIES is looking for a highly motivated experienced engineer to work on the GTO (Global Tapeout Operations) team as a Frame Design Automation Engineer located in Bangalore, India. The successful candidate will enjoy a variety of assignments that will include developing automation to generate electrical structures that are also known as Process Control Monitoring (PCM) structures, contributing to test and development efforts for our unique frame software and infrastructure as well as evaluating and optimizing our engineering development processes. This role requires working with worldwide Frame and other engineers that use semiconductor manufacturing tools (i.e., lithography and metrology) and test tools in our Fabs. The successful candidate would be delivering products and engaging in continuous process improvement in the increasingly complex world of chip manufacturing by applying Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, structured problem-solving and driving actions to reduce risks. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and test automated design flow for reticle design and verification (Step plan process). Engage in requirements research for design automation needs of device level physical design.
  • Define, develop, test and deploy automated flows in close association with engineering team to enable them verify the accuracy of electrical and optical designs using Design Rule Checking (DRC) tools or similar custom scripts and work with the specification owners to gain approval by the Waiver Review Board (WRB) when applicable. This may also include verifying overall frame structures.
  • Use or customize internally developed software tools and commercially available software tools to enhance design process productivity. This may also include generating input files that drive automation for our Fabs and Mask House.
  • Train, coach and mentor new joiners, interns and other team members on need basis for developing design automation expertise.
  • Communicate inputs and assess progress to project schedules. Participate in meetings with peer Frame teams located in the US and Singapore.
  • Interact with other teams such as Field Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Release Team, and Design Enablement, to assist with providing a best-in-class Customer Tape-out Operations experience.
  • Participate in assessing our team business processes and suggest continuous improvements as well as automation opportunities to enhance the teams productivity. This includes developing, tracking and reporting on team metrics.
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
, *Requirements:
  • Master s or Bachelors Degree in EE/ECE/CSE with 5+ years of industry experience
  • Proficient in coding with Unix shells and one or more of programming languages Python, Java and interest/aptitude to learn domain-specific programming/scripting languages/data formats
  • Exposure to large-scale engineering software application architecture and design using SQL/NoSQL databases like DB2, MySQL, MongoDB would be highly valued
  • Working knowledge of version control tools like Git, BitKeeper, SVN and Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins would be a plus
  • Aptitude for Design Flow Automation and broad exposure to EDA tools
  • Experience with Virtuoso environment and SKILL Programming, Device Layout Knowledge/Experience will be a plus
  • Ability to communicate and work with a cross-geographic, multicultural design team
  • Fluency in English Language - written & verbal - is a requirement.
