Conversant with vendor management, new vendor on-boarding, tracking and market trend analysis. Planning, implementing, and monitoring processes to drive continuous improvement. Comparing costs and evaluating the quality and suitability of supplies. Helping launch new products and enhance existing brands using new packaging technologies. Identifying packaging innovations from our competitors and drive new product development. Contributing to continuous improvement activities through Lean and best practices implementation. . Investigating production and process issues providing technical support and training to suppliers. Leading packaging cost reduction initiatives. Manage priorities and help cross functional teams focus on top initiatives. Work with technical team and our manufacturing partners to optimize solutions. Balance quality, speed to market, and cost reduction while meeting regulatory standards. Ready to travel to locations /coordinate between Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Vendors, conduct functional testing including plant trials for the decoration, filling and packing process, lab testing, shelf-life studies, stability studies, transit worthiness studies, production startup and improving line efficiencies. At least 5 years of prior experience, with extensive expertise within packaging materials as a category. Are innovative, constantly looking for new ideas and ways packaging can support and enhance the brand. Have a thorough understanding of the different types of packaging materials, their associated costs, and feasibility. Knowledge of purchasing methods, procedures and techniques. Considerable knowledge of methods of analysing suppliers. Experience in a consumer goods firm would be an added advantage. Experience with GD&T e.g., ASME Y14.5. Knowledge of distribution packaging, crate or wooden packaging, packaging design, package testing/qualification, and resolving packaging issues. Strong technical understanding of protective packaging materials, cushion design, distribution environment, failure mechanisms and analytical techniques.
