About the Tesco Technology Store ShoppingOnline shopping web team looks after all of the web customer experience for Grocery, Tesco.com and micro websites inside Tesco. We are also responsible for grocery websites across 6 other countries. We are also responsible for instore user experience. As a team, we strive to offer a seamless customer account experience across all of Tesco online channels.Built on a brand-new cloud platform running on NodeJS, and using ReactJS we are leveraging API s allowing us to be completely stateless. Built with modern web standards, multi-tenant, our approach is to replace existing functionality one vertical at a time. We ve embraced modern testing frameworks, and strive for the principle of automation throughout our development and release cycle.We re not running at insignificant scale either, we are the biggest online grocery website in the world.We have teams in multiple Geography. The team works according to Agile principles, adapting Kanban and other techniques as appropriate to succeed. Pairing is very common and all code is reviewed via Github. We are embracing continuous delivery principles, but it s a journey of continuous improvement to get there.The RoleAs a senior technical expert, I am a thought leader for large and complex areas. I set technical direction to translate strategy into action, making a significant impact to the organization. I lead the design, implementation, and delivery of software that shapes products and technologies. I use my depth of skill and experience to enable multiple teams around me to deliver excellent software quickly.As a Principal Software Development Engineer, you are key in shaping large parts of Tesco s technical landscape. You contribute to strategic planning, combining business vision and industry best practices to define technical strategy and make decisions. You typically work across multiple teams, setting the standard for engineering excellence and efficient technical design. You are hands-on and guide teams to improve technology across product portfolios, infrastructure and processes.In this job, I Guide Large Programmes of Worko Show perseverance and patience in driving large, complex or difficult initiatives from inception to completion, working with and influencing the engineering, product, program and business teams in Tescoo Convert ambiguous and complex business problems into simple technical solutions.o Influence build vs buy decisions, deprecate creaking software/applications, lead significant refactoring.
