Job Description

The Process Safety professional applies technical knowledge of process safety to support the corporate process safety team in the deployment and sustainment of corporate standards for the management of hazardous processes. This position will be a member of the process safety team providing support in the execution of process safety activities related to the implementation and sustainment of the Corporate Process Safety Risk Management (PSRM) standards to ensure a consistent and effective operationalization.This corporate position will be responsible to use their process safety expertise to manage the coordination and quality control of process risk assessments activities, coordination of calculations for pressure relief systems and safety instrumented systems, conduct consequence modeling, coordinate dust characterization testing and coordinate quantitative risk assessments. This position will not be required to travel except for learning and maintenance of process safety expertise (Principal Accountabilities50% Process safety analysis:

  • Manage the quality of process hazard analysis facilitators and reports including analysis of the PRA findings, quality of the assessment and evaluation of the prioritization of recommendations.
  • On-boarding new facilitators, maintaining a list of qualified facilitators, review of quality of PHA reports, and tracking and responding to metrics associated with PHAs.
  • Conduct consequence modeling of chemical releases including dispersion of toxic substances, overpressure damage from explosions, and heat exposure from flash and pool fires.
  • Service as corporate SME for Consequence modeling with interpretation of results, communication with sites and assist in necessary actions if warranted.
  • Identify and manage external suppliers for process risk assessments, consequence modeling, pressure relief system calculations, dust characterization and safety instrumented system calculations.
  • Review quality of vendors work, engage and assist site to interpret and understand impact/meaning of vendor s calculations.
  • This position is expected to do backend job related to process safety.
  • Responsible to collect information on safety parameters on daily baisis and prepare report.
  • Responsible to follow-up with third party incase audit is needed or any correction needed on violation of safety issues.
40% Process safety support:
  • Intake request from sites and perform consequence modeling of process releases, produce a report and engage and assist site to interpret and understand the results
  • Intake requests from sites and coordinate third party calculations for pressure relief systems, safety instrumented systems, and dust characterization.
  • Act as an SME for process safety calculations verifying results, communication results and potential impact to sites
  • 10% Sustainment and Continuous Improvement of Cargill Corporate Process safety Standards
  • Participate in work stream sub groups in the development and improvement of the corporate Process safety control programs, practices, tools, training and assessments
  • Deliver process safety lead training virtually to operations leaders and supervisors
,Education, Experience, SkillsMinimum Required Qualifications
  • BS degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience working in Engineering, technical operations, project management and/or process safety management, consultation.
  • Fundamental understanding of industry leading practices in process safety management
  • Basic understanding of computational fluid dynamics, fluid dynamics, heat and mass transfer, chemical reactions.
  • High proficiency in consequence modeling software such as Phast, Flacs, Kameleon FireEx KFX, FDS, HyRAM
  • Knowledge of process safety leading practices and RAGAGEPs including process hazard analysis, IEC 61511, NFPA and ASME/API requirements for relief system design.
  • Demonstrated to be collaborative, organized and detail orientated.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft office applications, and engineering/construction applications.
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to communicate and support site leadership and front-line management
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 8+ years of experience working in Engineering, technical operations, project management and/or process safety management, consultation.
  • Certified Process Safety professional through an external professional organization (i.e. ICHEME, CCPS, etc.)
  • Functional Safety Engineer (TUV)
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Fluent in a second local language
  • Experience working with Global teams
  • Experience working with 3 rd party process safety experts
