Job Description

Provision of technical support on the VIAVI Wireless product family, primarily the TM500/E500 Test Mobile/Capacity Test System. The support will be undertaken for a range of key customers such as leading vendors of cellular infrastructure and leading telecom network operators.Supporting the VIAVI Wireless sales and business development team in growing our sales order book across both our existing and future customer base.Main Responsibilities and Key Deliverables:OperationalProvision of technical support to VIAVI Wireless customer support contracts.Technical support, to engage in logging, investigation and resolution of issues related to VIAVI Wireless test and emulation equipment across our customer base.Support the VIAVI Wireless Team training function in delivering technical training across our customer base in line with the support services offered to the customer in question.Support the VIAVI Wireless Team engineering division in the delivery and implementation of new software releases across our customer base.Upon request from the FAE Regional engineering manager, attend regular engineering ticket review meetings for the region in which you reside.Undertake hardware tasks and repairs across our product range.Customer SupportProvision of both remote and on-site technical support across our customer base.Engage in regular customer review meetings to provide detailed feedback on the current status of active issues.Work closely with both our customer base and the product development team to qualify new features requested by our customers.Collection of technical requirements from the customer for future enhancement of the product.Sales SupportBuild and maintain close relationships with key customersUndertake and support technical demonstrations, to both existing and new customers, on VIAVI Wireless Team s product and feature range.Support sales team to define sales strategy and secure new business.Work closely with product team to identify customer requirements and business opportunities.TechnicalExtensive experience of VIAVI Wireless product range, with particular focus on the TM500 and E500 product range.Maintain and develop a detailed understanding of mobile core network experience, concerning 3GPP and non 3GPP standards and technologies.In-depth understanding and rich experience of 5G NR layers 1, 2 and 3.In-depth understanding of WCDMA and LTE layers 1, 2 and 3/ from PHY, MAC, RLC, PDCP to RRC and NAS.Rich experience on issue investigation and debugging.In-depth understanding of core network structure, elements and functionalities.In-depth understanding of TCP/IP protocol, FTP/HTTP protocol, VoLTE call flows and other conventional IP applications.Develop a detailed technical understanding of multiple disciplines and then act as a point of contact for questions and queries across your region for issues relating to this discipline.Keep abreast of new technologies and industry trends.LeadershipCoach and mentor others within the team in relation to their technical development.Conduct yourself in a professional manner in line with VIAVI s values both internally and when in contact with our customer base.Set the right example to others within the team and ensure that others are operating in line with VIAVI s values and behaviours. Project deliveryInstallation and commissioning of new LTE TM500/E500 systems and software.Lead on one-off projects as required.Guide others in the delivery of one-off projects as required.Health and safetyPromote an effective Safety, Health and Environment culture, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment within VIAVI Wireless Team.Maintain a secure working environment in line with the requirements of the VIAVI Wireless Team Security Policy in order to protect individuals, information and VIAVI Wireless Team assets., *Role specific skills required: The role requires the person to be a self-starter, self-motivated and flexible, with a record of problem solving.The individual must have the capability of self-learning as well as the ability to effectively coach and mentor others.The role may involve a significant amount of travel and staying away from home and as such the person must be very flexible to travel at short notice to meet business needs.Candidates should proactively manage the potential work permits and Visa s required to operate across their region so that they can be available when required.Afford high workload and overtime.Role, technical or sector experience required:Extensive experience with mobile core network operations across all the 3GPP and non 3GPP technologies.Extensive experience on LTE testing, either for handsets or base stations.Rich experience on LTE L1/L2/L3.Detailed experience of WCDMA.Knowledge and awareness of RF techniques.Have experience with simulated data generators to support data profiles such as VoLTE, VoIP, RTSP, FTP etc.Qualifications:The successful candidate will be educated to Master s degree level (MSc/MEng) or be able to demonstrate comparable suitable experience in an Electronic and Communications engineering subject.Experience of working in a technical discipline, preferably within a cellular environment, minimum 10+ years.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the primary language of the persons base location.Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Desirable for the role:Able to work effectively alone, whilst being a team player.Ability to act as a role model to others.Ability to work under pressure and provide good quality work in a timely manner.Must be enthusiastic, a clear verbal and written communicator in the languages relevant to the location of the role and English.Must be willing to travel frequently.
