• As a member of the HPC as a service team HPCaaS -, you will be responsible for establishing and executing on strategic objectives focused on improving the effective utilization of the compute resources while meeting or exceeding customer service level agreements for job prioritization, job concurrency, and job throughput in our EDA compute clusters.
• This includes leading architectural innovation and path finding efforts to create and implement Western Digital s next generation Grid computing environment.
• As a member of the team you will be expected to not only deliver on technical requirements and solutions but also be able to present your solutions to senior management.
• Responsibilities include but are not limited to working as individual contributor, a team member and a technical team lead to explore, define and pilot new solutions with little supervision.
• In this role, you will be collaborating closely with EDA and hardware design team stakeholders to define and deliver workload efficiency improvements in Western Digital s EDA HPC infrastructure globally.
• The candidate will also provide oversight across HPC assets, utilization and trends and proactively address issues before those issues can impact engineering activities.
• Knowledge of EDA workflows, tools and lifecycles and Linux system administration is key.
• You will interact with engineering on technologies and services related to NFS, LSF, Altair Accelerator, RTDA NC, FlexLM, Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics and many more within the large scale, global compute environments.
• The development of solutions, scripts and/or processes to automate management of these services and tools is required.
• This is a high visibility role with growth potential providing oversight across global engineering environments.
• A systems level approach and experience will be key to success in this role. The ideal candidate will have strong multitasking and organization skills and values customer service.
• Interrupt driven (sometimes urgent) tasks are to be expected within this exciting role.
• Strong communication skills are required.

What you ll be doing:

• Support multi-site, EDA high performance compute infrastructure for the global engineering product development organization
• Architect and deliver an analytics framework driving the optimization and efficiency of our key engineering infrastructure resources
• Manage and optimize the engineering GRID compute infrastructure
• Support global EDA tools and license infrastructure
• Support diverse Engineering Design Automation environment

What we need to see: Bachelor s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

• Minimum of ten years of experience in an engineering product development support role
• In depth knowledge of engineering design flows and supporting EDA tools
• Experience with IBM Platform LSF, Grid Engine, or similar technologies
• Experience with license management and utilization reporting tools
• Expert knowledge scripting with perl, bash, csh, and sh
• Experience in delivering common engineering development environment through the use of software abstraction techniques
• Experience supporting different flavors of Linux in an engineering product development environment
• Familiarity with Splunk for troubleshooting and monitoring
• Knowledgeable of configuration management frameworks such as Ansible
• Design, create, deliver, and support the deployment of Ansible automation within customer environments
• Experience with source / version control systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate IT concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Must be a critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent analytical skills, drive engineering process optimization, able to manage multiple projects under strict timelines, work well in a demanding dynamic environment and meet overall objectives.
• High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision
